XYZ Racing Drag Racing Coilovers — Porsche 996 CARRERA-2 1998-2001

The 996 Carrera-2 carries its flat-six behind the rear axle, which means the driven wheels already sit under the heaviest part of the car. The XYZ Racing Drag Racing coilover for the Porsche 996 Carrera-2 (1998-2001) is set up to exploit exactly that, planting the rear tyres hard on launch rather than letting that rear mass pitch the car around unproductively.

This is a straight-line specialist, not a circuit or fast-road kit. It is built for the 0-400 metre run, where the only things that matter are how cleanly the rear axle hooks up off the line and how settled the car stays as speed climbs.

What this coilover does for your 1998-2001 Porsche 996 Carrera-2

On a rear-engined Carrera-2, the launch problem is rarely grip in absolute terms – it is controlling how quickly load arrives at the rear tyres. The Drag Racing setting lets the rear compress and load the driven tyres harder the instant you launch, cutting the wheelspin that turns reaction time into wasted revs. What you feel is a rear axle that bites instead of scrabbling, and a car that tracks straight as the speedo wakes up rather than wandering under full throttle. Because the kit is height-adjustable, you can also set rake to suit your launch technique and tyre choice. None of this is about cornering finesse; it is about repeatable, predictable hook-up.

About the Drag Racing coilover

The Drag Racing series is built around a single job: the 0-400 sprint. XYZ Racing designed it for launch-dominated use across drivetrains, so front-wheel drive, rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive cars all benefit from the same core idea. The setup deliberately manages how weight shifts between front and rear during the launch, biasing compression toward whichever axle is putting power down. On the rear-driven 996 Carrera-2 that means forcing the rear tyres into firmer contact at the moment of launch, which reduces the brief slice of wheelspin that otherwise eats elapsed time. The damping is also tuned to hold the car stable at high speed, keeping the trap-speed end of the run composed rather than nervous. This is suspension for one discipline, and it does not pretend otherwise.

Fitment for the Porsche 996 Carrera-2 (1998-2001)

This kit is specific to the Porsche 996 Carrera-2 (chassis code PO01) built from 1998 to 2001 – the early, pre-facelift car in rear-drive Carrera-2 form rather than the four-wheel-drive Carrera-4. Confirm your chassis code and build year before ordering so the spring and damper hardware matches your car.

  • Height-adjustable suspension to set launch rake on a rear-engined 996

If your 996 Carrera-2 lives for the strip, this is the suspension aimed squarely at that one number on the timing slip. Configure yours below.

The coilovers are specially designed for 0~400 drag racing such as FWD, RWD or 4WD models. The setting allows vehicle to change the front and rear weight according to the transmission wheel in instant driving, and force the transmission tire having greater compression, which can reduce the idle time of wheel and improve the stability of the vehicle under high speed.
