XYZ Racing Pro Racing Gravel/Snow Coilovers — Nissan ALTIMA U13 4WD 1993-1997

The U13-chassis Altima’s four-wheel-drive layout was built for a market that never got a proper rally-spec suspension option in period, and that is the gap the Pro Racing Gravel/Snow coilover is built to close. Where a road-biased kit shortens travel to sharpen turn-in on tarmac, this setup does the opposite: it lengthens front and rear travel so the U13’s chassis has somewhere to go when the surface drops away under a wheel mid-stage.

That extra stroke is the whole point on loose surfaces. A shorter-travel coilover on gravel or snow will top out or bottom out the moment the Altima’s wheels find a rut, breaking traction exactly when the 4WD system is trying to put power down. Longer travel keeps the tyre in contact with the ground for more of the suspension’s working range, which is what actually matters when the surface underneath is inconsistent.

What this coilover does for your 1993-1997 Nissan Altima U13 4WD

Fit this to a 1993-1997 Altima U13 4WD and the first thing you will notice is how much longer the suspension can move before it runs out of travel, front and rear. That buffer is what keeps the car settled over compressions and crests instead of crashing through the last few millimetres of stroke. XYZ Racing has also increased the internal volume of both suspension oil and nitrogen gas in this damper compared with a standard road unit, which matters over a full rally stage or long circuit session: more fluid and gas volume means the damper has more thermal mass to absorb before oil temperature climbs high enough to fade the damping. On a car built to be driven hard and repeatedly, on gravel, in snow, or on track, that stability under heat is what keeps the Altima’s handling consistent from the first corner of a stage to the last.

About the Pro Racing Gravel/Snow coilover

XYZ Racing designed the Pro Racing Gravel/Snow coilover specifically for rally and rallycross use, where surface grip changes corner to corner and the suspension has to absorb hits a tarmac-only kit was never asked to handle. The extended front and rear travel is the headline change: it gives the chassis a larger buffer distance to work with, so the car stays composed when a wheel drops into a rut or crests a jump rather than slamming into the bump stops. Internally, the damper carries a larger reserve of suspension oil and nitrogen gas than a standard road-going unit, which helps prevent oil temperature spiking and the shock fading after sustained hard use, exactly the failure mode that ends a stage early. Adjustment is handled through three knobs feeding a small-orifice oil passage; when the car is working hard over rough ground, that passage can produce a faint noise as oil moves through it, which is a normal characteristic of this design rather than a fault. The same construction that suits rally and rallycross also holds up on circuit tracks, where the coilover’s tolerance for repeated bumps means track-day rutting and kerb strikes are not a concern either.

Fitment for the Nissan Altima U13 4WD (1993-1997)

This kit is built for the Nissan Altima U13 4WD, chassis code NI11, across the 1993 to 1997 production run. It is specified for the four-wheel-drive variant of the U13 platform, so confirm your Altima is the 4WD version before ordering rather than the front-wheel-drive equivalent.

This damper is mainly design for Rally Racing or Rally Cross. With longer travel for both front and rear, it increases bigger buffer distance to keep the car stable. The most advantages of this product is to extend the amount of suspension oil and nitrogen gas which can increase the stability of the shocks and prevent the shock oil temperature too high from being exhausted after long-term use.

Because its 3 adjustment knobs with small oil hole design, when driving through big bumps, the coilover oil will go through small passage which might cause some small noise. This is normal situation. This product is made for circuit tracks and there will be no concern for bumps on the tracks.

  • Hardened rubber top mountHardened rubberRHardened rubber upper — firmer than the factory bush for tighter response while retaining road-friendly noise and vibration isolation.

Rear

  • Aluminium top mountAluminiumAAluminium upper mount — a stiff, lightweight housing that locates the damper precisely and resists flex under load.
