XYZ Racing Tarmac Rally Coilovers — Mercedes-Benz A CLASS W177 A35 4WD φ55.5 2019-2026

The A35’s Torque Control 4Matic system shuffles drive between axles mid-corner, and on a tarmac stage that shift has to arrive through a chassis that isn’t second-guessing itself. Standard dampers are tuned for a hot hatch doing school runs and motorway miles, not a car landing off crests at stage pace. The XYZ Racing Tarmac Rally coilover replaces that compromise with a setup built specifically for sealed-stage work.

This is a damper calibrated for one job: absorbing repeated hard impacts from broken and undulating tarmac without the body pitching or the tyre losing contact. On the W177 A35, that means the front strut can take a mid-corner bump mid-Torque Control transfer and stay composed instead of upsetting the whole platform.

What this coilover does for your 2019-2026 Mercedes Benz A CLASS W177 A35 4WD Φ55.5

Rally stages are rarely smooth, and the biggest single hit to stage time is a suspension that skips or pattering over broken surfaces. This coilover is built to absorb sharp jolts across big compressions without transmitting the full shock into the body, which keeps the tyre’s contact patch loaded and gives the A35’s all-wheel-drive system a stable base to put power down out of a hairpin. On a car where torque is split front-to-rear on demand, a chassis that stays settled under compression means that torque actually translates into forward motion rather than getting soaked up by an unsettled rear axle. Reduced body shock also means less driver fatigue over a multi-stage run, where consistency matters more than one quick lap. The 55.5mm strut body is matched to this specific fitment, so the geometry and shock travel are set up for the W177’s suspension mounting points rather than adapted from another platform.

About the Tarmac Rally coilover

XYZ Racing built the Tarmac Rally line around one specific problem: absorbing the impact of uneven pavement without the body kicking back at the driver. Where a standard road coilover is calibrated to smooth out potholes and speed bumps, this damper is set up to soak up the big, repeated hits that come from a stage surface that’s never actually flat. The valving suppresses shock transfer into the chassis on the big compressions, which keeps the tyre gripping instead of skipping across the surface, and that direct link between damper control and tyre traction is the whole point of the design. XYZ carries its factory Tarmac Rally settings over from its own stage-rally programme, so the base tune reflects damping decisions made against real stage impacts rather than a rolling-road guess. The result is a platform that holds its line under load and lets the driver feel where the front and rear are at, rather than reacting to a car that’s already unsettled.
