XYZ Racing Pro Racing Gravel/Snow Coilovers — Mazda 323 (BF) 2WD 1987-1989

The BF-generation 323 left the factory light, narrow-tracked and softly sprung – sensible for a late-1980s hatchback, a handicap the moment the surface turns to loose gravel or packed snow. The XYZ Racing Pro Racing Gravel/Snow coilover for the Mazda 323 (BF) 2WD is built for that world specifically: long-travel rally and rallycross use where the ground falls away under the car and grip is intermittent.

This is not a lowering kit, and it is not aimed at tarmac. It is a long-travel damper set designed to keep a 1987-1989 323 settled over crests, ruts and compressions, carrying more suspension oil and nitrogen than a road coilover so the damping holds its character deep into a stage rather than going off after the first few miles.

What this coilover does for your 1987-1989 Mazda 323 (BF) 2WD

The extra suspension travel front and rear gives the lightweight 323 a bigger buffer to absorb big hits, so the car stays planted instead of skipping and unloading a wheel mid-corner on a rough surface. The larger oil and nitrogen volume is the part you feel late in a run: the shocks resist the heat build-up that turns a sharp damper into a vague one, so the front end keeps biting under braking into a junction and the rear stays predictable on the way out. Three separate adjustment knobs let you set the car up for the conditions in front of you – softer and longer for deep snow or a chewed-up gravel stage, firmer for a faster, harder-packed surface – rather than living with a single fixed compromise.

About the Pro Racing Gravel/Snow coilover

XYZ designed this damper primarily for rally and rallycross rather than circuit smoothness. The headline change over a standard coilover is travel: both front and rear units run longer stroke, increasing the buffer distance that keeps the car stable when it lands or crashes through a compression. To support that, the dampers hold a greater volume of suspension oil and nitrogen gas, which improves stability and stops the oil temperature climbing high enough to exhaust the shock over a long, repeated working life. Adjustment runs through three knobs, and the internal small oil-hole design means that hitting a large bump can push oil through a tighter passage and produce a faint noise – this is normal behaviour for the design, not a fault. The result is a damper engineered to take a beating on rough ground without complaint.

Fitment for the Mazda 323 (BF) 2WD (1987-1989)

This kit is matched to the BF chassis Mazda 323 in 2WD form, covering the 1987 to 1989 model years. Confirm your car is the 2WD BF variant before ordering, as the 4WD cars use different hardware.

This damper is mainly design for Rally Racing or Rally Cross. With longer travel for both front and rear, it increases bigger buffer distance to keep the car stable. The most advantages of this product is to extend the amount of suspension oil and nitrogen gas which can increase the stability of the shocks and prevent the shock oil temperature too high from being exhausted after long-term use.

Because its 3 adjustment knobs with small oil hole design, when driving through big bumps, the coilover oil will go through small passage which might cause some small noise. This is normal situation. This product is made for circuit tracks and there will be no concern for bumps on the tracks.
