XYZ Racing Gravel Rally Coilovers — Infiniti G20 P11 (Rear Bolt Distance φ172) 1998-2002

The Infiniti G20 P11’s front-wheel-drive, Primera-derived platform was never engineered with loose surfaces in mind, and that is exactly the gap this coilover is built to close. XYZ Racing’s Gravel Rally design replaces the factory strut internals with an inverted-tube damper, a long stroke and a long free-length spring, so the wheel stays loaded and the chassis stays composed once the road stops being tarmac.

This listing covers the φ172 rear bolt-distance variant of the G20 – the correct rear subframe spec for 1998-2002 cars – and the kit exists for one job: keeping a compact front-drive sedan pointed straight and the axle under control on a gravel stage or rally-cross loop, where a road-biased coilover would simply run out of travel.

What this coilover does for your 1998-2002 Infiniti G20

The inverted-tube layout keeps the working rod shielded from flying stones and mud, which matters on a car whose standard strut wasn’t designed for that environment. Long stroke travel means the front end can absorb a rutted approach or a mid-corner compression without slamming into the bump stop, and the long spring works with that extra travel instead of fighting it, so the tyre keeps tracking the surface rather than skipping across it. On the P11 chassis, where weight sits over the front wheels, that extra compliance also helps settle the nose under braking into a gravel corner instead of letting it dive and wash out. The result on your G20 is a car that holds a line over broken, unpredictable surfaces where a standard-height, standard-rate strut would be pattering and losing contact patch every few metres.

About the Gravel Rally coilover

XYZ Racing built this damper specifically for rally and rally-cross use, where road surface is about as aggressive as motorsport gets – sandstone, snow, silt and everything in between inside a single event. The inverted-tube construction is a direct response to that: it puts the more rugged component on the outside, so the damper can shrug off debris strikes that would score a conventional strut’s shaft. Stroke length and spring length are both extended well beyond road-going coilover norms, giving the suspension room to work when the car is landing off crests or bouncing through compressions at speed and under heavy cornering G-force. Every spring rate offered in this range has been set using data from an active rally racing team, rather than picked off a generic chart, so the rates reflect what actually holds a car together over a stage rather than what reads well on a spec sheet.

Fitment for the Infiniti G20 (1998-2002)

This kit is fitted to the Infiniti G20 P11 built between 1998 and 2002, specifically the φ172 rear bolt-distance rear subframe variant (chassis code IN03). Confirm your car’s rear bolt spacing against this figure before ordering, as the G20 P11 was produced with more than one rear subframe configuration across the model run.

This damper is mainly design for Rally Racing or Rally Cross. In all racing events, road condition of Rally Cross is the most aggressive one. Hence, it means that the shock absorber is the most important utensil during the Rally gravel competition. We develop inverted tube design to meet each different road condition as sandstone, snow or silt. Long stroke and long spring which enable to absorb chassis vibration, aggressively attack from high speed bouncy road and bear extremely G-force when turning. All spring rate setting are tested by Rally Racing team.
