XYZ Racing Gravel Rally Coilovers — Hyundai TUCSON 2004-2009

The first-generation JM Tucson was never built with stage rally in mind – a tall, soft, front-biased crossover with a long-travel road suspension that runs out of damping the moment the surface turns hostile. The XYZ Racing Gravel Rally coilover rebuilds that platform for loose surfaces: long stroke, long springs, and an inverted-tube damper body engineered to keep the wheel planted when the road becomes sandstone, snow, or silt.

This is a gravel-stage coilover, not a fast-road kit. If you are campaigning a 2004-2009 Tucson on rallycross or stage events – or building one for them – this is the damper that takes the chassis seriously.

What this coilover does for your 2004-2009 Hyundai Tucson

On a forest stage or a rallycross loop, the Tucson’s standard struts pack down within the first couple of corners and the body starts working against the driver. The Gravel Rally damper replaces that road-tuned compromise with a long-stroke setup that lets the wheel chase the surface instead of skipping over it. You feel it in three places: turn-in stays sharp on broken cambers, the rear stops getting kicked sideways by mid-corner ruts, and landings from yumps load progressively rather than bottoming out into the bump-stop. The inverted-tube construction puts the larger, stiffer outer tube at the top of the strut, where bending loads from a heavy crossover front-end are highest – which translates to less stiction and more consistent damping as a stage wears on.

About the Gravel Rally coilover

XYZ Racing designed this damper specifically for rally and rallycross use, and the brief shaped every decision. The inverted-tube layout is chosen for stiction control and bending resistance on the most aggressive surfaces in motorsport. Stroke length is deliberately long so the suspension has room to work over high-speed bouncy sections and absorb the G-loads that build through fast, committed cornering on loose ground. Spring length matches that stroke, with rates tested by XYZ’s own rally racing teams across sandstone, snow, and silt conditions rather than guessed at on a dyno. The result is a damper built around one job: keeping a competition car composed when the road is fighting back.

Fitment for the Hyundai Tucson (2004-2009)

This kit is built for the JM-generation Hyundai Tucson, chassis code HY24, covering the 2004-2009 model years. Both two-wheel-drive and four-wheel-drive variants share the same strut architecture, so the kit suits either drivetrain. Confirm your build year against the year span before ordering.

This damper is mainly design for Rally Racing or Rally Cross. In all racing events, road condition of Rally Cross is the most aggressive one. Hence, it means that the shock absorber is the most important utensil during the Rally gravel competition. We develop inverted tube design to meet each different road condition as sandstone, snow or silt. Long stroke and long spring which enable to absorb chassis vibration, aggressively attack from high speed bouncy road and bear extremely G-force when turning. All spring rate setting are tested by Rally Racing team.

Top mounts included with your kit

Every XYZ Racing coilover kit ships with the upper mounts listed below for your exact chassis — no extra parts to source.

  • Pillow ball + rubber top mountPillow ball + rubberP+Pillow-ball upper with a rubber insert — adds steering precision and camber adjustability while keeping some of the factory mount’s harshness damping.
  • Hardened rubber top mountHardened rubberRHardened rubber upper — firmer than the factory bush for tighter response while retaining road-friendly noise and vibration isolation.
