XYZ Racing Racing Spec Coilovers — Honda LEGEND KA7 1991-1995

The KA7 Legend is a 1.6-tonne front-driver with a longitudinal C32A V6 hung ahead of the front axle line, and that nose weight is the first thing a track-focused damper has to answer for. The Racing Spec coilover from XYZ Racing is built for owners who have stopped treating the KA7 as a luxury saloon and started treating it as a competition platform – the cars now appearing at JDM time-attack events and vintage circuit days where the chassis’ long wheelbase is an asset, but only with the right spring and damping behaviour underneath it.

This is not the kit for a fast-road KA7 still on its original leather and ACC. Racing Spec sits at the harder, more deliberate end of the XYZ range, with valving developed through direct race participation rather than catalogue spec sheets.

What this coilover does for your 1991-1995 Honda Legend KA7

Bolted to a KA7, the Racing Spec gets the front axle doing work the factory damper never asked of it. Body roll on turn-in collapses, the nose stops loading the outer front tyre into a slow understeer slide, and the rear becomes a steering input rather than a passenger. Brake-zone pitch is the other big gain – a long, heavy V6 saloon dives hard under threshold braking, and proper compression damping keeps the front geometry where it was designed to live. Ride height comes down to fill the arch and lower the centre of gravity, which on a car this tall is meaningful. None of this is subtle. Owners coming off worn OEM dampers will feel the steering rack sharpen up before they have left the pit lane.

About the Racing Spec coilover

The Racing Spec damper was developed specifically for track racing, with its damping curves and spring-rate matching drawn from XYZ Racing’s direct involvement in series including the WTCC. That race-floor feedback loop is what separates it from a generic "stiff" coilover – the valving is calibrated to the kind of load cycles a car sees over a 20-minute session, not just a single lap. For cars running aggressive aero, slick tyres, or A-class racing-grade modifications, XYZ also build custom shock absorbers to order. Owners can submit a full mod list and the circuit they intend to run, and a bespoke damper specification can be built around that car. For the KA7 specifically, that custom route matters – it is a rare chassis and an off-the-shelf rate set is a starting point, not a final answer.

Fitment for the Honda Legend KA7 (1991-1995)

This kit is built specifically for the first-generation KA7 Legend produced between 1991 and 1995, with the longitudinal V6 and front-wheel-drive layout. Confirm your chassis code reads KA7 before ordering – the later KA8 second-gen car uses different mounting and is not covered by this fitment.
