XYZ Racing Top Sport Coilovers — Honda ELEMENT YH1/YH2 2003-2011

The Element is the awkward one in this catalogue – a tall, boxy, JDM-spec crossover on the CR-V’s underpinnings, sold here only by grey import and increasingly cherished by owners who refuse to let the platform fade. That body sits high, the roll moment is significant, and the factory dampers were never asked to do anything more demanding than carry surfboards. The Top Sport coilover is where you start fixing that.

For a YH1 or YH2 Element being used as a daily that occasionally sees a track day or a properly enthusiastic B-road, this is the spec that bridges the two worlds without picking a side. Spring rates and damping sit roughly 30-50% firmer than the street-only baseline, which on a tall-bodied car like the Element translates directly into a flatter cornering attitude and a front end that actually tells you what it’s doing.

What this coilover does for your 2003-2011 Honda Element

Drop the ride height and the YH1/YH2’s centre of gravity comes down with it, which is the single biggest handling improvement available to this chassis. The stiffer springs cut the body roll that the factory setup leaves unchecked, so direction changes feel deliberate rather than floaty. Damping increased over the street setting means the Element stops pogo-ing on undulating tarmac and the front tyres stay loaded through long, loaded corners. Across broken surfaces – exactly the kind of British back-road the Element tends to live on – the damper still absorbs the hit instead of crashing through, because the tuning comes out of XYZ Racing’s Top Sport development programme rather than a generic lowering recipe. Traction at the contact patch goes up, brake stability improves, and the car finally feels like it’s working with you.

About the Top Sport coilover

Top Sport is XYZ Racing’s dual-purpose spec: stiffer than a street kit, softer than the full track-only Super Sport or Circuit Master setups, and explicitly developed for owners who use the same car Monday through Friday and Sunday at a circuit. The recipe runs roughly 30-50% more damping force and a spring rate around 2 kg/mm above street tune, which is the sweet point for absorbing impacts on rough pavement while still suppressing body movement when the pace climbs. Construction is the same monotube architecture used across the XYZ range, with ride-height adjustment independent of spring preload so you can set stance and corner weights without compromising shock travel. Every setting on the kit comes out of XYZ’s own Top Sport racing programme – it isn’t a desk-engineered street product wearing a sticker.

Fitment for the Honda Element (2003-2011)

This kit is built for the YH1 and YH2 Element, chassis code HN31, covering the full 2003-2011 production run of the JDM-market car. Confirm your chassis plate matches HN31 before ordering – the North American Element shares parts of the platform but uses different mounting hardware in places.
