XYZ Racing Pro Racing Gravel/Snow Coilovers — Ford MAV 2001-2007

Loose surfaces punish a tall-bodied 4×4 like the Ford MAV harder than they punish a low hatch – the centre of gravity sits high, the body pitches under braking, and a road damper runs out of travel the moment a stage turns to gravel or snow. The XYZ Racing Pro Racing Gravel/Snow coilover for the Ford MAV is built for exactly that: rally and rallycross use where suspension travel and damper survival matter more than outright stiffness.

This is the loose-surface specialist in the XYZ Racing range, not a circuit setup forced onto an SUV chassis. Longer front and rear travel gives the MAV a bigger working window over ruts, jumps and frozen ridges, and the three-way adjustment lets you set the car up for the surface in front of you.

What this coilover does for your 2001-2007 Ford MAV

After fitting, the first thing you notice on the 2001-2007 Ford MAV is composure when the surface breaks up. The extended travel keeps a tyre planted through compressions that would bottom out a standard damper, so the MAV stays pointed where you aimed it rather than skipping wide. The enlarged oil and nitrogen gas volume inside each strut resists fade on long gravel runs – the damping you have on the start line stays close to the damping you have at the finish, instead of going soft as the fluid overheats. Three knobs of adjustment mean you can soften the car for deep snow grip or firm it up for hard-packed gravel without touching spring rates. The result is a Ford MAV that holds its line across a full rough-surface stage instead of running out of suspension halfway through.

About the Pro Racing Gravel/Snow coilover

The Pro Racing Gravel/Snow coilover is engineered first for rally and rallycross, where the demands differ from tarmac racing. Its defining feature is travel: both front and rear units run a longer stroke than a circuit damper, building in a larger buffer before the suspension reaches its limit and keeping the car stable when the ground drops away. Inside, XYZ Racing has increased the volume of both damper oil and nitrogen gas. That larger fluid charge is what holds shock performance together over a long run – more oil and gas means the damper sheds heat better and resists the temperature build-up that exhausts an under-filled strut. Damping is set through three adjustment knobs, and because the internal oil passages are deliberately small, you may hear a faint noise as fluid moves through them over a sharp hit. That is normal behaviour for this design, not a fault – it is the trade-off for the metering precision the gravel and snow setup is built around.

Fitment for the Ford MAV (2001-2007)

This kit is cut for the Ford MAV, chassis code FO12, covering the 2001 to 2007 model years. It is a direct-fit coilover for that chassis – confirm your build year falls inside the 2001-2007 span before ordering, and check the configurator for the exact spring and damper options listed for your car.

This damper is mainly design for Rally Racing or Rally Cross. With longer travel for both front and rear, it increases bigger buffer distance to keep the car stable. The most advantages of this product is to extend the amount of suspension oil and nitrogen gas which can increase the stability of the shocks and prevent the shock oil temperature too high from being exhausted after long-term use.

Because its 3 adjustment knobs with small oil hole design, when driving through big bumps, the coilover oil will go through small passage which might cause some small noise. This is normal situation. This product is made for circuit tracks and there will be no concern for bumps on the tracks.
