The Ford Kuga MK2 AWD carries more weight over a taller body than the hot hatches this Drag Racing kit usually lives under, and that mass shifts hard the instant you release the clutch or brake-torque off the line. XYZ Racing’s Drag Racing coilover for this chassis is built around that specific problem: getting weight onto the driven wheels the moment torque arrives, rather than managing body roll through a corner like the rest of the range.

For a Kuga MK2 AWD running 0-400m passes, launch traction decides the run before the first gear change. This kit lets you set front and rear ride height independently, so the AWD driveline’s front and rear axles load exactly when power goes down instead of settling naturally over the first few metres.

What this coilover does for your 2012-2019 Ford KUGA MK2 AWD

Winding the front down and the rear up, or the other way round depending on which end you want biased at launch, lets you control how quickly weight transfers onto the tyres doing the driving the instant you leave the line. On an AWD Kuga that means less wasted wheelspin as the front-rear torque split engages, and more of the engine’s output going into forward motion rather than heat in the tyres. Because the setting is aimed directly at cutting down wheel idle time during the launch phase, you get a shorter, more repeatable 60-foot before the AWD system settles into its running split for the rest of the pass. Stability through the back half of a 400m run improves too, since the ride height you’ve locked in keeps the body settled instead of pitching as speed climbs.

About the Drag Racing coilover

XYZ Racing built this kit specifically for 0-400m drag work, and it’s designed to work across FWD, RWD and 4WD platforms rather than being tuned for cornering loads like the rest of the coilover range. The idea is weight distribution you control at the exact point of launch: independent front and rear height adjustment shifts mass onto whichever wheels are driving the car the instant power lands, instead of leaving that transfer to happen on its own. That extra compression on the driven tyre is what reduces wheel idle time, the brief window where the tyre spins before it hooks up, which is where most amateur passes lose their 60-foot. Once the car is rolling, the same set-up keeps the chassis stable at the far end of the strip, where a soft or poorly controlled ride height starts to wander as speed builds. It is a single-minded kit, with no attempt to double as a comfortable daily set-up, because that is not what a straight-line pass needs.

Fitment for the Ford KUGA MK2 AWD (2012-2019)

This kit is built to the FO10-A chassis code, covering the Kuga MK2 AWD across its full 2012 to 2019 production run. Confirm your Kuga is the AWD variant rather than the front-drive model before ordering, since the front and rear geometry differs between the two.

Set the front and rear height for your Kuga MK2 AWD’s launch, then configure your Drag Racing spec below.

The coilovers are specially designed for 0~400 drag racing such as FWD, RWD or 4WD models. The setting allows vehicle to change the front and rear weight according to the transmission wheel in instant driving, and force the transmission tire having greater compression, which can reduce the idle time of wheel and improve the stability of the vehicle under high speed.
