XYZ Racing Tarmac Rally Coilovers — Ford FOCUS MK4 HATCHBACK (Rear Multi-Link Suspension) 2019-2026

The MK4 Focus hatch sits on a chassis that’s genuinely capable when the road turns rough – the multi-link rear is the reason the ST and the warm trims feel as composed as they do over broken British B-roads. The problem on a competitive sealed-stage tarmac stage is that the factory dampers run out of travel and start packing down the moment the surface deteriorates, leaving you riding on the bump stops through the rough bits where stages are actually won.

This XYZ Racing Tarmac Rally coilover is the answer for crews running an FO26-chassis Focus on closed-road tarmac events. It is a damper built around absorbing repeated high-frequency impacts without losing tyre contact, and the spring and valving settings are drawn directly from XYZ Racing’s own tarmac rally programme rather than adapted from a circuit kit.

What this coilover does for your 2019-2026 Ford Focus MK4 Hatchback

The first thing you notice is how the front end stays planted when you commit to a compression mid-corner – a place where the standard MK4 dampers go light and the nose washes wide. The valving is tuned to soak up big single hits – kerbs, ridges, broken tarmac repairs – without unloading the contact patch, so the front tyres stay biting where a softer road damper would skip. Through the rear multi-link, the kit controls the body rather than fighting it, which means the inside rear keeps loading on long throttle-up corners. Ride height is adjustable so you can set the Focus to a stage-appropriate stance rather than running the OE rake. On a fast direction-change – the kind a tarmac stage will throw at you four or five times in a kilometre – the car settles between transitions instead of pitching about on its springs.

About the Tarmac Rally coilover

This is a damper engineered specifically for tarmac rally use, not a circuit coilover with a softer spring fitted. The valving philosophy is built around impact absorption – the ability to take the jolt of a big bump and dissipate it without transmitting an upset into the chassis. That keeps body movement controlled and, more importantly, keeps the tyre loaded through the hit rather than skipping off the surface. The construction targets repeated high-energy events: a stage section that batters a circuit coilover into fade will sit inside this damper’s operating window. Every setting baked into this kit – spring rate, bump and rebound curves, ride-height window – comes out of XYZ Racing’s own tarmac rally race experience rather than being extrapolated from a road or track spec. The result is a damper that gives a driver real feedback through the seat about what the chassis is doing on a rough sealed surface.

Fitment for the Ford FOCUS MK4 HATCHBACK (Rr Multi-Link Suspension) (2019-2026)

This kit is specifically for the FO26 chassis Focus MK4 hatchback fitted with the multi-link rear suspension – the higher trims and ST. It covers the 2019 to 2026 production window. If your MK4 hatch runs the twist-beam rear axle rather than multi-link, this is not the correct part number for your car.
