XYZ Racing Top Sport Coilovers — Ford FOCUS MK4 HATCHBACK (Rear Multi-Link Suspension) (Cancellation Kit for Electronic Damping) 2019-2026

The Focus MK4 hatchback’s rear multi-link layout is the clever bit Ford carried over for the higher-spec C2 platform cars, and it’s also the reason the factory damping feels softer than the chassis deserves once you start pressing on. The XYZ Racing Top Sport coilover is built for owners running an FO26-C Focus who want the rear axle to actually work with the front under load, not lag behind it on turn-in.

This kit ships with the electronic damping cancellation hardware needed for cars fitted with Ford’s CCD adaptive setup, so there are no dashboard warnings and no half-installed compromise. It is the spec to fit when track days are a regular fixture but the car still has to do the Monday commute.

What this coilover does for your 2019-2026 Ford Focus MK4 Hatchback

Lift the spring rates roughly 2 kg/mm over the standard tune and the Focus stops squatting on corner exit, which is the single biggest reason MK4 owners complain about understeer washing into power oversteer mid-corner. Body movement quietens down, the front contact patch loads more progressively, and trail-braking becomes a tool rather than a gamble.

Ride height is fully adjustable independently of preload, so you can drop the car for stance or keep useful suspension travel for B-road work without the two settings fighting each other. Damping is height-adjustable too, letting you firm the rebound for circuit sessions and back it off for a long motorway run. The multi-link rear, in particular, responds well to the firmer control – the back of the car finally rotates on throttle the way the chassis hinted it could.

About the Top Sport coilover

The Top Sport is XYZ Racing’s track-day-with-a-conscience spec. Damping is wound roughly 30 to 50 per cent firmer than their street-tune coilover, and spring rates step up by around 2 kg/mm, giving the car the body control needed to take repeated full-attack laps without the dampers cooking off or the springs running out of stroke over kerbs.

The valving is drawn from XYZ Racing’s circuit programme rather than scaled-down from a pure race damper, which matters: it absorbs sharp inputs from broken Tarmac and ripple strips instead of pinging the tyre off the surface. Construction is monotube with separate spring and damper adjustment, and the cancellation harness in this kit eliminates the OEM electronic damping signal cleanly. The brief from XYZ Racing is explicit – built for track days and aggressive driving, but liveable on the road in between.

Fitment for the Ford FOCUS MK4 HATCHBACK (2019-2026)

Specific to the FO26-C chassis Focus MK4 hatchback fitted with the rear multi-link suspension, covering model years 2019 to 2026. This is the variant with Ford’s adaptive electronic damping from the factory – the kit includes the cancellation hardware to disable it without throwing fault codes. Confirm your car has the multi-link rear rather than the torsion-beam rear before ordering.
