XYZ Racing Pro Racing Drift Spec Coilovers — BMW Z4 4 CYL 2002-2008

The four-cylinder Z4’s weight sits noticeably further back and lighter over the front axle than the six-cylinder cars sharing the same BM73 shell, and that shift is exactly what makes this chassis such a willing drift platform. Less nose weight means quicker steering response into a slide and a rear end that’s easier to hold once it steps out, but only if the suspension underneath is set up to exploit it rather than fight it.

The Pro Racing Drift Spec coilover is built around that trade-off. It’s tuned for the specific job of holding a controlled angle at speed rather than simply lowering the car, which is the difference between a Z4 that looks the part and one that actually holds a line through a long, committed slide.

What this coilover does for your 2002-2008 Bmw Z4 4 CYL

Drop the ride height correctly and the Z4’s roll centre and bump stroke work together to keep the body settled while the rear steps out, instead of pitching or wallowing mid-slide. The 3-way adjustment knobs let you separate low-speed damping, used for weight transfer as you initiate the slide, from high-speed damping, which controls how the chassis reacts to kerbs and mid-corner bumps at competition speed. On a lightweight four-cylinder Z4 this matters more than on the sixes, because there’s less mass to mask a poorly matched setup, so getting the bump stroke right after lowering is what actually delivers a clean, holdable angle rather than a snap-oversteer moment you’re fighting to catch.

About the Pro Racing Drift Spec coilover

This is a coilover built specifically around drift, not a general track kit pressed into drift service. The design brief is stabilising the car’s body through fast, high-angle turns so the driver can hold a precise line rather than react to the chassis. Once ride height is lowered and bump stroke is set correctly, the unit is built to keep drift control locked at a consistently excellent level rather than degrading as the slide extends. The 3-way adjustment comes via small oil-hole passages at each knob; running the car hard over rough sections or kerbs can occasionally push oil through those passages with a faint noise, which is a normal by-product of the fine metering the design uses, not a fault. The unit is built with circuit and competition tracks as the target surface, where bump absorption is engineered around, rather than public roads with unpredictable surfaces.

Fitment for the Bmw Z4 (2002-2008)

Fits the four-cylinder Z4, chassis code BM73, across the 2002 to 2008 production run. This listing covers the 4-cylinder cars specifically – check your engine code against the four-cylinder range before ordering, as the six-cylinder Z4 of the same era sits on a different weight balance and uses a separate application.

This suspension is especially designed for Drift racing purpose. With its special design, it helps the racers stabilize the vehicle body while in high speed turning in order to make a perfect angle. It can also enhance drifting performance. After lowering the ride height with proper bump stroke, you will realize how we made the drift controlling to the excellent condition.

Because its 3 adjustment knobs with small oil hole design, when driving through big bumps, the coilover oil will go through small passage which might cause some small noise. This is normal situation. This product is made for circuit tracks and there will be no concern for bumps on the tracks.
