XYZ Racing Drift Spec Coilovers — BMW Z4 4 CYL 2002-2008

The Z4’s front-engine, rear-drive layout and short wheelbase make it a natural drift platform, but the factory dampers were tuned for a boulevard cruiser, not for holding a controlled slide through a bend. XYZ Racing’s Drift Spec coilover is built specifically to give the BM73-generation Z4 the body control a drifter needs at the point the rear steps out.

This is a dedicated angle-and-transition tool rather than a general track or fast-road upgrade. It lowers the car and firms up the platform so the chassis stabilises mid-slide instead of pitching and wallowing as weight transfers under lock.

What this coilover does for your 2002-2008 Bmw Z4 4 CYL

Drop the ride height correctly with the proper bump stroke set and the Z4 settles into a lower, flatter stance that keeps the outside tyre loaded through the transition into a slide. That stability is what lets a driver hold a bigger angle rather than fighting constant weight transfer as the rear rotates. Because the setup is calibrated around bump travel rather than just spring rate, the car reacts predictably when you get back on the throttle to catch the slide, instead of snapping or pogoing on the rebound. For a 4-cylinder Z4 with a relatively light nose, that predictability at initiation and at catch is what actually separates a drift car from a lowered road car – the difference is felt the moment you clutch-kick or feint into a corner.

About the Drift Spec coilover

XYZ Racing engineered this range around one job: keeping the car’s body settled while it’s turning hard and sideways at speed. The valving is set up to control the vehicle’s attitude specifically through that high-speed, high-slip-angle window, rather than chasing outright grip the way a circuit-oriented kit would. Ride height adjustment works alongside a properly set bump stroke, so lowering the Z4 doesn’t just change the look of the car – it changes how the suspension manages compression as the rear axle unloads and reloads mid-drift. The result, per XYZ Racing’s own development brief for this range, is suspension travel and damping matched to give the driver a more controllable, more consistent car through the entry, mid-slide, and transition phases of a drift run. It’s a narrower brief than a Track/Circuit or Super Sport kit, and the kit is set up accordingly rather than as a compromise between road comfort and lap time.

Fitment for the Bmw Z4 (2002-2008)

This kit is built for the BM73-chassis Z4, 4-cylinder cars produced across the 2002-2008 model years. Confirm your car sits within that build window before ordering, since suspension geometry and mounting points can shift outside it.

This suspension is designed for Drift race especially. With its special design, it helps the racers stabilize the vehicle body while in high speed turning in order to make a perfect angle. It can also enhance drifting performance. After lowing the ride height with proper bump stroke, you will realize how we made the drift controlling to the excellent condition.

Every XYZ Racing coilover kit ships with the upper mounts listed below for your exact chassis — no extra parts to source.

Front

  • Pillow ball + rubber top mountPillow ball + rubberP+Pillow-ball upper with a rubber insert — adds steering precision and camber adjustability while keeping some of the factory mount’s harshness damping.
  • Hardened rubber top mountHardened rubberRHardened rubber upper — firmer than the factory bush for tighter response while retaining road-friendly noise and vibration isolation.

Rear

  • Aluminium top mountAluminiumAAluminium upper mount — a stiff, lightweight housing that locates the damper precisely and resists flex under load.
