XYZ Racing Drift Spec Coilovers — BMW 7 SERIES F01/F02 2008-2015

The F01/F02 7 Series is the last thing most people picture sliding sideways, which is precisely why the cars that do turn up at drift events tend to draw a crowd. A long-wheelbase luxury saloon with a proper rear-drive layout and a torquey N63 or N55 under the bonnet is a serious chassis to commit to angle – but the wheelbase that makes the F01 a limo at 70mph is the same wheelbase that makes it stable and predictable once it’s leaned over. The XYZ Racing Drift Spec coilover for the BMW 7 Series F01/F02 (2008-2015) is built for that specific job.

This is a competition-oriented coilover, not a fast-road kit pressed into drift duty. The geometry it lets you run, the bump stroke it preserves once dropped, and the high-speed transition control it delivers are aimed at one thing: holding a consistent angle through a clipping point on a 5+ metre wheelbase.

What this coilover does for your 2008-2015 Bmw 7 Series F01/F02

Drop the F01 onto a properly-specified coilover and the air-sprung wallow disappears immediately – this car responds to spring control more dramatically than almost any other BMW because of how soft the OE setup is. The Drift Spec stiffness then gives you the front-end commitment you need to initiate, without the rear stepping into the kind of unrecoverable snap that a short, stiff drift car can punish you with. Ride-height adjustment lets you set a low static stance with bump travel retained, which is the difference between bottoming out mid-transition and carrying speed cleanly through a link. You get steering response that matches the inputs your hands are making, body control that holds the chassis flat when you swap from lock to lock, and the ability to fine-tune the balance once you have track time on the car.

About the Drift Spec coilover

The Drift Spec is engineered specifically for competitive drift use – this is not a re-badged street coilover. The damping and spring philosophy is built around stabilising the body during high-speed turn-in so the driver can commit to a clean initiation angle, then maintaining that angle through transitions without the chassis fighting back. XYZ Racing’s brief for this series is to enhance drift performance once the ride height has been dropped with proper bump stroke preserved – drop it correctly and the car behaves as intended; drop it wrong and you lose the travel the damper needs to work. Construction is the full-coilover layout you’d expect at this level, with height and damping adjustability so the car can be re-set between events. Crucially, the design accounts for what happens at the limit of grip rather than what feels nice on the way to the limit, which is the opposite priority to a fast-road kit.

Fitment for the Bmw 7 Series F01/F02 (2008-2015)

This kit is built for the BMW 7 Series F01 (standard wheelbase) and F02 (long-wheelbase) saloons produced between 2008 and 2015, chassis reference BM123. The F01/F02 ran air suspension at the rear from the factory on most variants, and converting to a coil-over rear is part of the install – factor that into your build plan.

This suspension is designed for Drift race especially. With its special design, it helps the racers stabilize the vehicle body while in high speed turning in order to make a perfect angle. It can also enhance drifting performance. After lowing the ride height with proper bump stroke, you will realize how we made the drift controlling to the excellent condition.

Top mounts included with your kit

Every XYZ Racing coilover kit ships with the upper mounts listed below for your exact chassis — no extra parts to source.

  • Aluminium top mountAluminiumAAluminium upper mount — a stiff, lightweight housing that locates the damper precisely and resists flex under load.
  • Iron top mountIronIRONIron upper mount — a heavy-duty housing built to take sustained load where a stronger top mount is required.
