XYZ Racing Pro Racing Gravel/Snow Coilovers — BMW 7 SERIES E65 8 CYL 2001-2008

Loose-surface stability in a car that weighs the best part of two tonnes is a different engineering problem to shaving tenths on tarmac, and that’s the brief behind the XYZ Racing Pro Racing Gravel/Snow coilover for the BMW 7 Series E65. The E65’s long wheelbase and V8 nose weight already ask a lot of a standard damper on loose or wintery surfaces; this kit is built specifically to handle that load transfer without the car pitching or wallowing.

Where the factory setup on a V8 E65 leans on self-levelling air suspension tuned for motorway comfort, this coilover swaps in a mechanical, rally-derived platform built around travel and heat management rather than ride refinement alone.

What this coilover kit does for your 2001-2008 BMW 7 Series E65

Fitted to a BM49-chassis 7 Series, the extended front and rear stroke gives the suspension more room to absorb a rutted gravel track or compacted snow before the damper tops or bottoms out, which matters enormously in a car carrying this much mass over the front axle. The larger internal reservoir of oil and nitrogen gas is there to stop the shock overheating on longer stints, so damping force stays consistent instead of fading as oil temperature climbs, something a heavy, high-powered saloon will find out quickly on an extended stage or a long snowy back road. The three external adjustment knobs let you retune compression and rebound as conditions change through a route or a season, rather than living with one fixed setting. Expect a car that settles faster after a compression, resists the pitch and dive a two-tonne V8 saloon is prone to under hard braking on loose surfaces, and holds its line when the rear end starts to move.

About the Pro Racing Gravel/Snow coilover

This is XYZ Racing’s rally and rallycross-oriented coilover, built around long front and rear travel rather than the shorter stroke you’d find on a circuit-only kit. The extra suspension oil and nitrogen gas volume is the key differentiator: more fluid and gas means more thermal capacity, so the damper can absorb repeated big hits without the oil overheating or losing consistency the way a smaller-reservoir unit would over a long stage. Three external adjustment knobs, each metering through a deliberately small oil passage, give independent control over compression and rebound. That small-passage design is worth knowing about before fitting: driving over sharp, repeated bumps can produce a faint noise from the valving as oil passes through, and that’s a normal characteristic of this construction rather than a fault. XYZ Racing developed this platform for circuit and stage use where sustained abuse, not outright stiffness, is the limiting factor.

Fitment for the BMW 7 Series E65 (2001-2008)

This kit is mapped to the BM49 chassis code, covering the V8-engined 7 Series E65 built between 2001 and 2008. Confirm your car’s engine and chassis code before ordering, as the E65 range spans multiple engine configurations across this production run.

This damper is mainly design for Rally Racing or Rally Cross. With longer travel for both front and rear, it increases bigger buffer distance to keep the car stable. The most advantages of this product is to extend the amount of suspension oil and nitrogen gas which can increase the stability of the shocks and prevent the shock oil temperature too high from being exhausted after long-term use.

Because its 3 adjustment knobs with small oil hole design, when driving through big bumps, the coilover oil will go through small passage which might cause some small noise. This is normal situation. This product is made for circuit tracks and there will be no concern for bumps on the tracks.

Top mounts included with your kit

Every XYZ Racing coilover kit ships with the upper mounts listed below for your exact chassis — no extra parts to source.

Front

  • Pillow ball + rubber top mountPillow ball + rubberP+Pillow-ball upper with a rubber insert — adds steering precision and camber adjustability while keeping some of the factory mount’s harshness damping.
  • Hardened rubber top mountHardened rubberRHardened rubber upper — firmer than the factory bush for tighter response while retaining road-friendly noise and vibration isolation.

Rear

  • Aluminium top mountAluminiumAAluminium upper mount — a stiff, lightweight housing that locates the damper precisely and resists flex under load.
