XYZ Racing Drift Spec Coilovers — BMW 6 SERIES E63 / E64 M6 2004-2010

The E63 M6 is an awkward drift platform on paper – 1710kg of grand tourer with a 5.0-litre S85 V10 hung ahead of the front axle and a SMG III gearbox that was never designed to be slid sideways for fun. That is exactly why the cars that do get committed to drift duty need a suspension built around the discipline, not borrowed from a track-day catalogue. The XYZ Racing Drift Spec coilover is engineered for that job: holding a long, heavy chassis at a deliberate angle without the front end washing wide mid-transition.

Drift Spec sits apart from the Super Sport and Circuit Master kits in the XYZ range because the priorities are different. Front-end bite on initiation, predictable weight transfer once the rear has stepped out, and a ride height low enough to keep the M6’s high roll centre in check – that is what this kit is set up to deliver on an E63 or E64.

What this coilover does for your 2004-2010 Bmw 6 Series E63 / E64 M6

Drop the M6 on the Drift Spec kit and the first thing you notice is how much earlier the nose responds to steering input – the standard EDC dampers always felt a beat behind the V10’s throttle, and that lag disappears. Front-end stability through high-speed transitions is where this kit is specifically tuned, so the chassis stays planted as you load it up for initiation rather than pitching forward and unloading the rear. Once the rear is out, the controlled bump stroke means you can ride the slide on the dampers rather than fighting bounce coming off mid-corner kerbs. Lowered ride height tightens the roll centre geometry the E63 was never blessed with from the factory, which translates into less mid-slide correction and a cleaner exit line. Spring and damper rates are matched for the M6’s specific corner weights, so the front-to-rear balance arrives set up for sustained angle rather than needing a weekend of trial-and-error on the spanners.

About the Drift Spec coilover

The Drift Spec is XYZ Racing’s purpose-designed drift coilover, developed specifically around the demands of competitive drifting rather than adapted from a circuit setup. The defining characteristic is high-speed cornering stability – the kit is built to keep a heavy chassis composed while it is being held at a deliberate angle, which is a fundamentally different load case to gripping through an apex. Spring rates and damping curves are selected to enhance drift performance once the car is sliding, not just to resist roll on entry. Ride height is meant to come down further than a fast-road setup, with the bump stroke engineered to remain useful at that lowered height – a detail most off-the-shelf coilovers get wrong, leaving the car bottoming on every transition. The result is a chassis that gives the driver finer control authority over slide angle and recovery, which is the whole point of a coilover wearing the Drift Spec name.

Fitment for the Bmw 6 Series E63 / E64 M6 (2004-2010)

This kit fits the E63 coupe and E64 convertible M6 with the S85 V10, production years 2004 through 2010. The bodyshell differences between coupe and convertible are accommodated within the same kit specification. EDC-equipped cars will need the electronic damper controller bypassed or deleted on installation.

The S85 deserves a chassis that lets it work – configure your Drift Spec kit for the E63 or E64 below and build the spec around your car.

This suspension is designed for Drift race especially. With its special design, it helps the racers stabilize the vehicle body while in high speed turning in order to make a perfect angle. It can also enhance drifting performance. After lowing the ride height with proper bump stroke, you will realize how we made the drift controlling to the excellent condition.
