XYZ Racing Drift Spec Coilovers — BMW 4 SERIES F83 M4 (Modified Rear Integrated) (Cancellation Kit for Electronic Damping) 2014-2020

The F83 M4’s convertible shell carries extra weight over the front axle and gives up some of the coupe’s torsional stiffness – exactly the kind of chassis flex that makes holding a controlled slide at the right angle harder than it looks. XYZ Racing’s Drift Spec coilover is built to counter that, giving the S55’s twin-turbo torque somewhere predictable to push against as the rear steps out.

This is the cancellation-kit variant with modified RR-integrated mounting, built specifically to remove BMW’s factory electronic damping control (EDC) from the equation and replace it with a fixed, mechanically adjustable platform. For drifting, that trade is the whole point: no ECU second-guessing the transition, just a chassis that responds the same way lock after lock.

What this coilover does for your 2014-2020 BMW 4 Series F83 M4

With the S55’s power on tap, the F83 convertible needs its body kept flat and settled through the change from grip to slide, and that’s where correctly set damping earns its keep. Lowering the ride height and running the damping toward the firmer end tightens the M4’s roll response, so weight transfer at initiation arrives sharper and more consistently rather than lazily. Because the kit cancels the factory EDC, the car stops hunting between comfort and sport damping maps mid-slide – the rate you set is the rate you get, every run. That consistency matters more on a convertible than on the coupe: the extra mass and softer shell mean small damping errors show up faster as body roll, and taking the ECU out of the loop removes that variable entirely. Ride height adjustment independent of spring preload also lets you set attitude and stance without touching the spring rate you’re relying on for control.

About the Drift Spec coilover

XYZ Racing built the Drift Spec line for one job: keeping the car’s body stable through a controlled, high-speed slide so the driver can hold a clean angle instead of fighting the chassis. The valving is tuned around that specific load case rather than outright lap-time grip, favouring predictable weight transfer over cornering speed for its own sake. Ride height is set through a proper bump-stroke calculation rather than simply winding the spring perch down, which keeps the damper working in its intended range once the car is lowered instead of topping or bottoming out mid-transition. On this F83 M4 application, the kit’s modified RR-integrated mounts and EDC-cancellation hardware are built to occupy the factory adaptive-damper location, so the electronic system is taken out of the control loop rather than left fighting a mechanical setup underneath it. The result is a coilover platform where the driver, not the ECU, decides how the car behaves as it steps out.

Fitment for the Bmw 4 Series F83 M4 (Modified Rr Integrated) (Cancellation Kit for Electronic Damping) (2014-2020)

This kit fits the BMW 4 Series F83 M4 convertible built 2014 to 2020, specifically the modified RR-integrated, cancellation-kit-for-electronic-damping configuration for cars fitted with factory adaptive M suspension from the factory. Chassis code BM95-C on the fitment guide identifies this exact spec – check it against your V5C or BMW build sheet before ordering, since the standard Drift Spec kit without EDC cancellation is a different part for the same model.
