XYZ Racing Pro Racing Gravel/Snow Coilovers — BMW 3 SERIES E46 6 CYL (Modified Rear Integrated) 1998-2005

The E46 3 Series never struggled for grip on smooth tarmac, but put a six-cylinder example onto gravel, snow or a rutted rally stage and the standard dampers run out of usable travel long before the chassis runs out of ideas. That is the specific gap the Pro Racing Gravel/Snow coilover is built to close: rally and rallycross use, where compressions, jumps and mixed-grip surfaces ask for far more shock travel than any circuit-biased kit can offer.

Fitted to this 1998-2005 BMW 3 Series E46 (fitment code BM28) with the modified rear-integrated mounting, it replaces the factory struts front and rear with a design built around stability under sustained, repeated hits rather than outright stiffness for a single hot lap.

What this coilover does for your 1998-2005 BMW 3 Series E46 6 CYL (Modified Rr Integrated)

Extended front and rear travel gives the E46’s chassis a bigger buffer before the suspension tops or bottoms out, which matters on a rally stage where a single misjudged compression can otherwise pitch the car off line. The larger internal volume of suspension oil and nitrogen gas keeps damping force consistent as the shocks heat up over a long stage, instead of fading as a smaller-volume unit would after repeated big hits. Three-way adjustment lets you set compression and rebound separately for loose, low-grip surfaces where the standard E46 setup either wallows or steps out with little warning. On a car that already carries a naturally aspirated six up front, that extra control over how load transfers into the rear axle under braking and turn-in is the difference between a stage car that stays pointed and one that snaps.

About the Pro Racing Gravel/Snow coilover

This is a damper built primarily for rally and rallycross rather than tarmac circuit work, though XYZ Racing rate it for track use as well. Front and rear travel is extended well beyond a road or fast-road spec kit, increasing the buffer distance that keeps the car settled over ruts, jumps and compressions instead of running out of stroke. Internally, the shock carries a larger charge of suspension oil and nitrogen gas than a standard unit, which helps prevent oil temperature spiking and the shock fading during a long, hard stage. The three external adjustment knobs meter fluid through deliberately small oil passages; on big hits this can produce a faint clicking or knocking noise from the damper, which is a normal by-product of that valving and not a fault.

Fitment for the BMW 3 Series E46 6 CYL (Modified Rr Integrated) (1998-2005)

Built for the 1998-2005 six-cylinder E46 3 Series with the modified rear-integrated mounting configuration (fitment code BM28). Confirm your car matches this rear mounting spec before ordering, as standard-mount E46 six-cylinder cars use a different kit in the range.

This damper is mainly design for Rally Racing or Rally Cross. With longer travel for both front and rear, it increases bigger buffer distance to keep the car stable. The most advantages of this product is to extend the amount of suspension oil and nitrogen gas which can increase the stability of the shocks and prevent the shock oil temperature too high from being exhausted after long-term use.

Because its 3 adjustment knobs with small oil hole design, when driving through big bumps, the coilover oil will go through small passage which might cause some small noise. This is normal situation. This product is made for circuit tracks and there will be no concern for bumps on the tracks.
