XYZ Racing Drag Racing Coilovers — BMW 3 SERIES E46 6 CYL (Modified Rear Integrated) 1998-2005

Launch a rear-wheel-drive E46 hard off the line and the chassis does the opposite of what you want: weight unloads off the rear axle in the first fraction of a second, exactly when the drive tyres need it most. The XYZ Racing Drag Racing coilover is built around that single problem rather than around cornering compliance, which is what separates it from every road or track-biased kit in this range.

For the six-cylinder E46 – whether you’re running a 323i, 328i or 330i – this is a straight-line tool. It’s not tuned for turn-in feel or mid-corner body control, it’s tuned to keep the rear tyres loaded and gripping through the launch and into the top end of a 0-400m run.

What this coilover does for your 1998-2005 Bmw 3 Series

Fitted to the E46, the setup lets you dial in a static weight bias that favours the rear axle at the moment of launch, which is the single biggest lever a RWD car has over wheelspin. Instead of the nose squatting away from the road while the driven wheels chatter for grip, the front and rear ride heights are set so mass transfers onto the rear contact patch as soon as the clutch or torque converter loads up. That greater compression on the drive tyre shortens the idle spin that costs a RWD car its 60-foot time, and it keeps the rear end settled once the six-cylinder engine is pulling hard through the gears rather than skating sideways under power. The result is a car that puts its power down instead of showing it off in tyre smoke.

About the Drag Racing coilover

This coilover is built specifically for 0-400m drag work across FWD, RWD and 4WD platforms, which is a different design brief to a track or fast-road coilover. Where a circuit-focused kit balances front and rear stiffness for cornering, this one is set up to manage front-to-rear weight transfer at the instant of launch, shifting mass onto whichever axle drives the car forward. That controlled weight shift increases compression on the drive tyre, cutting the amount of time the wheel spends spinning free before it hooks up. Less idle spin means a cleaner, more repeatable launch and better stability as speed builds through the run. On the E46’s rear-drive layout, that translates directly to loading the rear axle rather than the front, which is the axle doing the work.

Fitment for the Bmw 3 Series E46 6 CYL (modified Rr Integrated) (1998-2005)

This kit is built for the six-cylinder E46-generation 3 Series, chassis code BM28, covering the 1998 to 2005 model years with the modified rear integrated setup. Confirm your car sits within that build range and runs a six-cylinder engine before ordering, as the four-cylinder E46 uses a different kit.

Spec out the launch height and damping for your E46 and build yours below.

The coilovers are specially designed for 0~400 drag racing such as FWD, RWD or 4WD models. The setting allows vehicle to change the front and rear weight according to the transmission wheel in instant driving, and force the transmission tire having greater compression, which can reduce the idle time of wheel and improve the stability of the vehicle under high speed.

Top mounts included with your kit

Every XYZ Racing coilover kit ships with the upper mounts listed below for your exact chassis — no extra parts to source.

Front

  • Pillow ball + rubber top mountPillow ball + rubberP+Pillow-ball upper with a rubber insert — adds steering precision and camber adjustability while keeping some of the factory mount’s harshness damping.
  • Hardened rubber top mountHardened rubberRHardened rubber upper — firmer than the factory bush for tighter response while retaining road-friendly noise and vibration isolation.

Rear

  • Pillow ball top mountPillow ballPSolid pillow-ball (spherical bearing) upper — chosen for rigidity and precise camber adjustment, the sharpest steering response of the options.
