XYZ Racing Pro Rally Coilovers — Audi A3 8V Φ55 (Rear Multi-Link Suspension) Modified Rear Integrated (Cancellation Kit forElectronic Damping) 2012-2020

The Audi A3 8V’s multi-link rear axle – shared with the S3 and the wider MQB platform – doesn’t accept a straight strut-for-strut coilover swap the way a torsion-beam supermini does, and cars specified with adaptive electronic damping add a second complication: the factory DCC control unit has to be taken out of the loop before a fixed-valve rally set-up can talk to the dampers. XYZ Racing’s Pro Rally kit for the A3 8V Φ55 chassis (AU12-6-C) includes that cancellation kit as standard and is built to the professional-installation spec, where the rear mounting is modified into the body rather than bolted to the standard turrets.

That professional-type build is what separates a Pro Rally kit from an off-the-shelf road coilover pressed into gravel duty. It’s aimed at drivers running full rally programmes – forest, gravel, snow – who need a rear end integrated into the shell rather than reliant on the original A3 mounting points, and front-end hardware sized to survive repeated compression events at speed rather than a track day’s worth of kerb strikes.

What this coilover does for your 2012-2020 Audi A3

With the electronic damping module cancelled out, the front and rear units run purely on their own valving – no ECU stepping in to correct for a ride height or spring rate the factory software was never mapped for, which matters once you’ve moved outside the DCC’s calibrated range. The 55mm strut body gives the front end more oil volume and a larger piston area than a standard-diameter road coilover, useful when the front axle is loading and unloading rapidly over rutted gravel rather than smooth tarmac. Because the rear is integrated into the body instead of clamped to the stock multi-link mounts, the geometry stays consistent even as the suspension works through more travel than the road car was ever designed for, and the whole assembly can be stripped and rebuilt on rally-service intervals rather than road-car ones. Ride height and corner weighting are both adjustable at the perch, so you can set the car up for a specific stage’s ground clearance rather than a single road-going compromise.

About the Pro Rally coilover

XYZ Racing splits its gravel and snow rally range into two build types. The amateur-spec kit bolts into the car’s original mounting points with no bodywork changes, aimed at drivers stepping into rally from a road car. The Pro Rally kit here is the professional-spec build: the rear mounting is modified into the shell during fitment rather than using the factory location, which is the only practical way to get a genuine rally-spec multi-link rear working on a chassis that was never designed around this much suspension travel. That modification is what lets the kit run stiffer, longer-travel damping without inheriting the compliance and geometry compromises a bolt-in amateur kit carries over from the road car. It’s built for teams running proper stage events rather than fast-road use, where the rear axle needs to be part of the rally build from the ground up rather than a modified afterthought.

Fitment for the Audi A3 8V (2012-2020)

This kit is built for the Audi A3 8V, chassis code AU12-6-C, covering the 2012 to 2020 model years fitted with the multi-link rear axle and the electronic damping module this kit’s cancellation kit is designed to bypass. Confirm your car uses the multi-link rear set-up rather than the torsion-beam variant before ordering, as the two require different rear hardware.

Rally gravel/snow suspensions are very professional suspensions and they are designed into two types:

1. Be installed directly with the original chassis. (Amateur type)
2. Be installed after modifying the car body. (Professional type)
