XYZ Racing Pro Racing Gravel/Snow Coilovers — Audi A3 8V Φ50 (Rear Multi-Link Suspension) Modified Rear Integrated 2012-2020

The Audi A3 8V’s MQB-based rear multi-link axle gives this hatchback more suspension travel to work with than the twist-beam set-ups on lesser hatches, and the Pro Racing Gravel/Snow kit is built to use every millimetre of it. On loose surfaces the difference between a tarmac coilover and a rally-spec one comes down to buffer distance and how much oil and gas the damper actually holds – this kit stretches both, front and rear, so the A3 stays composed when a rut or a snow bank forces the suspension to move further than a circuit set-up would ever ask of it.

This is a Pro Racing Gravel/Snow build, a different bracket to XYZ’s tarmac-biased Circuit Master or Drag Racing kits for the A3: longer travel, a bigger internal buffer, and a damper tune aimed at repeated hard compressions rather than pure lateral grip. For an A3 8V running rallycross stages or snow events, that’s the spec that keeps the chassis stable when the road surface disappears.

What this coilover does for your 2012-2020 Audi A3

Fit this kit to an A3 8V and the first thing you notice is how much further the suspension can move before it runs out of travel – useful when a gravel stage throws a compression at the car that a UK B-road never would. The extended oil and nitrogen gas volume inside each damper means the shock runs cooler over a long stage or a full snow rally weekend, so damping doesn’t fade just when you need it most. Ride height stays adjustable to match loose-surface clearance the A3’s factory set-up was never given, and the three external knobs let you retune compression and rebound between a gravel stage and a tarmac transit section without pulling the dampers apart. On the multi-link rear, that adjustability keeps the axle working predictably as the surface changes underneath it.

About the Pro Racing Gravel/Snow coilover

XYZ built the Pro Racing Gravel/Snow line specifically for rally and rallycross use, and the engineering shows in the travel figures: both front and rear dampers are lengthened to give a bigger buffer zone than a tarmac coilover, so the suspension has somewhere to go when a rut or a compacted snow bank compresses it hard. Internally, the damper carries an increased volume of suspension oil and nitrogen gas, which is the detail that matters most over a long stage – more fluid means the shock runs cooler and holds its damping characteristics instead of fading as oil temperature climbs during sustained hard use. Each damper gets three external adjustment knobs, and because the oil is metered through a deliberately small passage at that adjuster, you may hear a faint noise over a big bump – that’s the oil doing its job, not a fault. The result is a damper built to take repeated hard hits on rough surfaces without the bump-shy behaviour of a track-only coilover.

Fitment for the Audi A3 (2012-2020)

This kit is built for the Audi A3 8V, chassis code AU12-5, covering the 2012 to 2020 model years fitted with the rear multi-link suspension layout (Φ50 strut diameter) rather than the torsion-beam rear. Confirm your A3 has the multi-link rear axle before ordering, as the two rear suspension layouts are not interchangeable.

This damper is mainly design for Rally Racing or Rally Cross. With longer travel for both front and rear, it increases bigger buffer distance to keep the car stable. The most advantages of this product is to extend the amount of suspension oil and nitrogen gas which can increase the stability of the shocks and prevent the shock oil temperature too high from being exhausted after long-term use.

Because its 3 adjustment knobs with small oil hole design, when driving through big bumps, the coilover oil will go through small passage which might cause some small noise. This is normal situation. This product is made for circuit tracks and there will be no concern for bumps on the tracks.

Top mounts included with your kit
