Caliper render for this kit:

The E61 M5 carries its 507bhp S85 V10 in the only estate body BMW ever gave the M5, and that extra rear mass changes how the car loads its back axle into a braking zone. A Touring that spins to 8,250rpm and chases three-figure speeds asks far more of its rear brakes than the saloon ever did, especially across a run of hard stops. This XYZ Racing rear big brake kit for the Bmw 5 Series E 61 M5 attacks the heat and fade that the standard rear setup starts to show once you use the V10’s full reach.
Rear braking on a fast estate is as much about stability as outright stopping power. Get the back axle to bite cleanly and the nose stays settled under heavy braking, which counts when you are hauling the better part of two tonnes of Touring down from speed. This is a rear-axle pair – left and right calipers and two-piece floating discs – whose hollow-vane friction rings trim rotational mass at the rear, and three pad compounds let you match the setup to road use or harder track days.
What this brake kit does for your 2007-2010 Bmw 5 Series E 61 M5
After fitting, the first thing you feel is a firmer, more consistent rear pedal once the discs are hot, with braided lines holding the bite. The larger rear rotors give the car more thermal capacity, so repeated stops from high speed no longer bring the long pedal and falling bite of an overheated standard setup. With the Racing compound fitted, the rear axle holds its torque deep into a braking zone, keeping the M5 stable and resisting the rear stepping out on turn-in. The Sport pad covers fast road and the occasional circuit day, while for road-biased drivers the Street compound trades outright heat tolerance for quieter everyday manners. The two-piece floating discs also shed rotational and unsprung weight at each rear corner, which helps the suspension keep the tyres planted over mid-corner bumps.
About the Hollow Rear Brake Kit
The Hollow Rear Brake Kit is built around two-piece floating discs with a hollow-vane friction ring, where the internal venting is cast to move air through the rotor while cutting weight against a solid equivalent. That matters at the rear of a heavy V10 estate, where rotational and unsprung mass directly affect how the back axle settles. The kit pairs the discs with a fixed multi-piston caliper – hollow-cast as standard, with a Hollow Racing upgrade for serious track use that drops the dust cover for a 1000C rating and a two-year warranty – and a choice of three pad compounds: Street for stock-like feel, Sport for fast-road use, and Racing for sustained track temperatures. Discs can be specified drilled or slotted at the same price, and centre bells upgraded to two-tone anodized in five colours or to titanium. Calipers are painted at no extra cost in Red, Yellow, Gold, Black or Anodized Black, with Custom Color in any Pantone for £150, premium polished-forged Titanium, Polished Gold and Polished Silver, and candy Teal, Blue, Red and Orange. Everything is sized to clear the rear hub and bracketry of the E61 chassis specifically, rather than being a generic adapter fit.
Fitment for the Bmw 5 Series E 61 M5 (2007-2010)
This kit is built for the rear axle of the E61 M5 Touring made between 2007 and 2010. It suits the S85 V10 M5 specifically, not the lesser E60/E61 530i or 535i models, so the disc diameter and caliper mounting match the M5’s rear hub. Confirm your build year falls inside the 2007 to 2010 window before configuring.

Choosing your spec
Every kit is built to order around the choices you make above. Here is what each option actually changes, so you can spec yours with confidence.
Brake pads — Street, Sport or Racing
Every kit ships with a full set of high-performance pads; the compound is your call.
Street is the right default for fast-road driving — a strong, progressive cold bite with low noise, low dust and long disc life. Sport raises the working temperature and adds bite and fade resistance for hard road use and the occasional track day, while still behaving on a cold morning. Racing is a track compound built for sustained abuse: huge fade resistance and bite once heat is in it, at the cost of more noise and dust when cold. Match the pad to how hard you actually use the brakes — there is no benefit to a race pad that never gets up to temperature.
Caliper grade — Hollow vs Hollow Racing
Hollow is the standard caliper on every kit: a hollow-body forged caliper, lighter than a solid one, fitted with a dust cover and backed by a 5-year oil-leak warranty. For most fast-road and spirited track use it is all the caliper you need.
Hollow Racing is the track-grade upgrade. It runs the same hollow body but without a dust cover (so there is nothing to melt at sustained high temperature), uses a twin-metal piston that isolates heat travelling from the disc to the oil seal, and is rated to 1000°C. Available 330–356mm (rear). Warranty is 2 years on oil leaks and 10 years on appearance. Built for professional racing and repeated track days.

Caliper colour & finish
Painted colours (Red, Yellow, Gold, Black, Anodized Black) are included at no cost. Want an exact match to your car? Custom Color (+£150) paints the calipers to any Pantone code you supply (15–20 day lead time).
Polished Forged finishes are the flagship: a forged caliper given a mirror-polished surface treatment that shifts colour with the viewing angle. Beyond the looks, the polished surface dissipates heat better, resists rust and stands up to the weather. Choose Titanium (neochrome, +£350), Polished Gold (+£300) or Polished Silver (+£250). They look their best paired with a titanium centre bell. Care: clean only with a dilute neutral cleaner or water.
Candy colours (+£200) use a deep candy-paint and polishing process for a mirror-reflection, boutique finish — pick Teal, Blue, Red or Orange (shown below right).

Centre bells
The centre bell is the CNC-machined aluminium hat that joins the disc to the hub. The standard anodized centre bell is included. The Two-tone bell (+£200) adds an anodized accent ring — choose Red, Yellow, Orange, Purple or Silver right here at checkout. The Titanium centre bell (+£500) is a forged titanium bell (bolts not included) that finishes off the polished-forged look.
