XYZ Racing Drag Racing Coilovers — Volkswagen GOLF MK7 GTI φ55 (Cancellation Kit for Electronic Damping) 2013-2020

Straight-line launches punish a stock GTI’s front-heavy weight transfer before the tyres ever hook up. XYZ Racing’s Drag Racing coilover for the Mk7 GTI is built around that single problem: getting the Golf’s mass to move rearward fast enough on the hit to load the driven wheels without wheelspin eating the first 60 feet.

This isn’t a dual-purpose road-and-track spring rate compromised down the middle. It’s a dedicated 0-400m setup for FWD platforms like the Mk7, tuned so the chassis squats hard and stays planted through the gearchanges rather than porpoising on soft factory-tuned dampers. This version includes the cancellation kit needed to run fixed-rate coilovers on GTIs originally fitted with electronic adaptive damping (DCC), removing the factory module conflict.

What this coilover does for your 2013-2020 Volkswagen GOLF MK7 GTI

Weight transfer is everything in a launch, and this kit is set up to encourage it deliberately rather than resist it. Front-to-rear balance is shifted so load comes off the nose and onto the front-driven wheels the instant you release the clutch or brake-torque off the line, cutting the wasted spin that costs a FWD Golf its early ETs. The compression side is calibrated to let the chassis settle into that transfer quickly instead of fighting it, so the tyres see consistent compression rather than a harsh, unloading top-end. Because the DCC cancellation kit is included, the electronic damper wiring on your GTI is neutralised cleanly rather than left throwing fault codes or defaulting to a limp setting. The result is a Golf that hooks up predictably run after run instead of bogging or spinning through first and second gear.

About the Drag Racing coilover

XYZ Racing designed this range specifically for 0-400m competition across FWD, RWD and 4WD platforms, which is a different brief to a road or circuit coilover. Rather than chasing flat cornering, the valving and spring rate are set to manage weight transfer on demand: shifting mass to the driven axle the instant the car launches, then forcing the drive tyres into greater compression so they compress harder and grip sooner. That reduces the idle time the wheel spends unloaded at the start of a run, which is where FWD cars typically lose the most time to wheelspin. For a Golf, where the front axle does all the driving, that instant of extra compression at launch is the difference between a clean 60-foot time and a smoky one. The stability gain carries through the run too – less unsettled weight transfer at high speed means fewer mid-run corrections.

Fitment for the Volkswagen GOLF MK7 GTI (2013-2020)

This kit is built for the Mk7 GTI, chassis code VO20-5-C, across the full 2013-2020 production run. It includes the cancellation kit specifically required for cars originally equipped with electronic adaptive damping (DCC), so the fixed-rate coilover can be installed without retaining the factory adaptive damper control unit.

The coilovers are specially designed for 0~400 drag racing such as FWD, RWD or 4WD models. The setting allows vehicle to change the front and rear weight according to the transmission wheel in instant driving, and force the transmission tire having greater compression, which can reduce the idle time of wheel and improve the stability of the vehicle under high speed.
