XYZ Racing Pro Racing Gravel/Snow Coilovers — Volkswagen GOLF MK6 4WD φ55 (Modified Rear Integrated) 2008-2012

The Golf Mk6 4WD’s Haldex system sends torque to all four corners the instant the front axle loses grip, which is precisely the scenario gravel, snow and rallycross stages create underneath a car. XYZ Racing’s Pro Racing Gravel/Snow coilover is built around that scenario: longer travel front and rear lets the chassis absorb big compressions from ruts and washboard surfaces without bottoming out.

For this 2008-2012 4WD Golf Mk6 on the φ55 shock body with the modified rear-integrated mount, this spec is for drivers pointing the car at loose-surface events rather than tarmac circuits. It prioritises suspension travel and shock durability over outright low-speed stiffness, so the Haldex system has consistent wheel contact to work with when the surface changes underfoot.

What this coilover does for your 2008-2012 Volkswagen Golf Mk6 4WD

On loose surfaces, the extra front and rear travel keeps the tyres tracking the ground through compressions that would pogo a shorter-travel road coilover, which matters directly to how well the Haldex 4WD system can put power down out of a rutted corner. The larger internal reservoir of suspension oil and nitrogen gas gives the damper more thermal headroom, so oil temperature stays under control through a long stage or a full snow event rather than fading as the shock works hard for extended periods. Three external adjustment knobs let you set compression and rebound independently, useful when a stage changes from hard-packed gravel to loose snow inside the same run. Ride height stays adjustable through the coilover’s threaded body, so you can set the Golf’s stance to suit ground clearance on rutted tracks rather than a fixed factory ride height.

About the Pro Racing Gravel/Snow coilover

The Pro Racing Gravel/Snow series is XYZ Racing’s damper built specifically for rally and rallycross use rather than circuit driving. Both the front and rear units run extended travel, giving the suspension a bigger buffer against big hits before the chassis runs out of stroke, which keeps the car stable when the road surface underneath it is anything but flat. Internally, the damper carries a larger volume of suspension oil and nitrogen gas than a road-biased design, which helps the shock resist the oil overheating that comes from sustained hard use over a stage. Each damper has three external adjustment knobs, and because the oil passes through deliberately small internal passages at those knobs, you may hear a faint noise as the shock works over big bumps; that is the damper doing its job, not a fault. XYZ Racing built this spec for hard, repeated use on loose surfaces rather than a single smooth session, which is why the internal volume and travel are both increased over their road-going coilovers.

This damper is mainly design for Rally Racing or Rally Cross. With longer travel for both front and rear, it increases bigger buffer distance to keep the car stable. The most advantages of this product is to extend the amount of suspension oil and nitrogen gas which can increase the stability of the shocks and prevent the shock oil temperature too high from being exhausted after long-term use.

Because its 3 adjustment knobs with small oil hole design, when driving through big bumps, the coilover oil will go through small passage which might cause some small noise. This is normal situation. This product is made for circuit tracks and there will be no concern for bumps on the tracks.
