XYZ Racing Racing Spec Coilovers — Volkswagen GOLF MK6 φ50 (Cancellation Kit for Electronic Damping) 2008-2012

The MK6 Golf’s factory Dynamic Chassis Control dampers are tuned for a comfortable road ride, not for lap after lap of load reversal through a chicane, and the electronic module underneath them will throw faults the moment you unplug a stock damper for anything aftermarket. That is why this Racing Spec coilover for the Volkswagen Golf MK6 φ50 platform is supplied with a cancellation kit built in: the DCC wiring is neutralised so the ECU stops looking for a sensor signal that no longer exists, and the whole car runs on fixed-rate, fully mechanical damping instead.

This is XYZ Racing’s serious track and time-attack spec, not a fast-road compromise. The 50mm-body shock is built to take repeated heat cycling and hard compression events without the damping curve drifting session to session, which is the difference between a coilover that’s fine for a trackday and one you can genuinely race on.

What this coilover does for your 2008-2012 Volkswagen Golf MK6

Removing the DCC electronics and replacing them with a mechanically adjustable Racing Spec damper gives you a fixed, repeatable damping curve that doesn’t change behaviour lap to lap the way the factory system can once it starts hunting for a cancelled signal. The 50mm damper body has more oil volume than a standard-diameter shock, which matters on a front-wheel-drive Golf under trail-braking into slow corners, where heat build-up is what causes fade in cheaper kits. Adjustable ride height lets you drop the centre of gravity and correct the geometry that changes when you lower a MK6 off its stock DCC-tuned spring rates, rather than just sitting the car lower and living with the compromised camber curve. For a Golf MK6 doing repeat sessions rather than the occasional trackday, that consistency under sustained load is the actual point of stepping up from a fast-road coilover.

About the Racing Spec coilover

XYZ Racing’s Racing Spec range is the company’s motorsport-facing coilover, with damping settings pulled directly from its involvement in circuit racing series including the WTCC rather than derived from road-car testing. That racing background is why the range exists in the first place: settings that hold up under the load cycling of wheel-to-wheel competition translate directly to a driver doing serious lap work on a Golf MK6. For cars carrying heavier modification, XYZ Racing also offers a bespoke damper build; if your MK6 is running upgraded brakes, wider wheels, aero, or other changes that shift its weight and load characteristics, you can supply the car’s spec and the circuit you intend to run and have the shock valving built around that specific combination rather than a generic setting. It is the same approach used for factory racing cars and top-level club racers who need the damper tuned to the car, not the other way around.

Fitment for the Volkswagen GOLF MK6 (2008-2012)

This kit is built for the Volkswagen Golf MK6 φ50 platform across the 2008-2012 production run, matched to the chassis code VO17-C. The cancellation kit for the factory electronic damping system is included as standard with this fitment, so no separate DCC delete part is required alongside the coilover. Confirm your Golf MK6 was fitted with the DCC-equipped damper setup from the factory before ordering, as this variant is specifically built around removing that system.
