XYZ Racing Super Sport Coilovers — Volkswagen BEETLE φ55 (Rear Multi-link Suspension) 2011-2026

The third-generation Beetle dropped the old twist-beam rear axle for a proper multi-link setup shared with its PQ35-platform siblings, and that’s the hardware this Super Sport coilover kit is designed around. On a front-driven shell with a lower roofline and wider track than the New Beetle it replaced, a multi-link rear gives the geometry to actually control camber and toe under load – provided the damper and spring rates behind it are up to the job.

For a Volkswagen owner splitting time between a fast B-road and the occasional trackday, that’s exactly the brief. This Super Sport coilover set replaces the soft factory struts and twist-prone rear damping with a monotube-style unit that keeps the multi-link geometry working as intended, rather than letting body roll and axle movement fight each other through a corner.

What this coilover does for your 2011-2026 Volkswagen Beetle

Ride height adjustment lets you drop the front and rear independently, correcting the Beetle’s factory-high stance and pulling the centre of gravity down without resorting to cut springs. The 36-way damping adjustment is the more useful figure day to day: back it off for a daily commute over broken tarmac, then wind in compression and rebound before a track session so the multi-link rear doesn’t wallow under trail braking. Because the front struts and rear dampers are matched as a set, the platform stays balanced rather than stiffening one end and leaving the other soft – the usual result of swapping springs alone. Owners running the Beetle on 18-inch-plus wheels will also feel less sidewall-induced vagueness once the damper is doing its share of the work instead of the tyre.

About the Super Sport coilover

XYZ Racing built the Super Sport line to solve the harshness that catches out a lot of aftermarket suspension – bump and rough-road impact that gets transmitted straight into the cabin instead of being absorbed. The 36-way adjustment knob sits at the top of the strut, giving a wide enough spread between comfort and firm settings that the same kit works as a daily-driver upgrade and a weekend-race setup without needing two dampers for two jobs. Ride height is set independently of damping via the threaded body, so lowering the car doesn’t lock you into a single compression setting. It’s a construction aimed squarely at drivers who want one coilover kit to cover commuting, fast road driving and occasional circuit use, rather than a single-purpose track damper that’s miserable on the school run.

Fitment for the Volkswagen Beetle (2011-2026)

This kit is specified for the Volkswagen Beetle built on the Φ55-strut, multi-link-rear chassis (code VO02-4), covering the 2011 to 2026 model years. Confirm your car has the multi-link rear axle rather than an earlier twist-beam layout before ordering, as the two use different rear mounting hardware.
