XYZ Racing Tarmac Rally Coilovers — Volkswagen BEETLE φ55 (Rear Multi-link Suspension) 2011-2026

The A5-generation Beetle’s independent multi-link rear axle was built for tarmac composure, not gravel abuse – which is exactly why it responds so well under sealed-stage rally use. Fast, closed-road tarmac stages punish a car with compression spikes over crests and camber changes mid-corner that a stock setup simply rounds off. The Tarmac Rally coilover is built around that specific brief.

For a road-going Beetle pressed into sealed-stage service, the priority isn’t outright stiffness – it’s controlling body movement over broken tarmac at speed without the axle losing contact on a compression. This kit is XYZ Racing’s answer to that exact scenario, built from the settings the brand has carried over from its own tarmac rally programme.

What this coilover does for your 2011-2026 Volkswagen Beetle Φ55 (rr Multi-link Suspension)

Fitted to the Φ55 rear multi-link chassis, this coilover absorbs the impact of uneven pavement rather than transmitting it straight into the body shell, which keeps the rear axle tracking through the compressions that tarmac stages throw up. Across bigger hits – a broken road edge, a mid-corner ridge – the damper suppresses the resulting shock through the body instead of letting it upset the car’s line. That control does double duty: it increases tyre traction on the very surfaces where traction is hardest to keep, and it settles the Beetle’s stance enough that the multi-link rear stays predictable when you’re carrying speed into a compression rather than skipping across it. The net effect on this Volkswagen Beetle is a car that holds its intended line through a stage instead of getting deflected by it.

About the Tarmac Rally coilover

XYZ Racing’s Tarmac Rally coilover is a purpose-specific damper tune, not a generic fast-road unit relabelled for stages. The valving is set to soak up the jolt of hitting a big bump without the body kicking back, which is the failure mode that costs time and confidence on a closed tarmac stage. Every setting in this kit is carried across from XYZ Racing’s own tarmac rally experience, rather than derived from track lap-time testing – the two disciplines load a chassis differently, and this build reflects that. The result is a damper aimed squarely at vehicle stability: keeping the car planted and the tyre loaded through the kind of surface changes a rally stage produces, so the driver gets a handling response that stays consistent stage after stage rather than degrading as the road gets rougher.

Fitment for the Volkswagen Beetle Φ55 (rr Multi-link Suspension) (2011-2026)

This kit is built for the Volkswagen Beetle Φ55 variant fitted with the independent rear multi-link suspension design, chassis reference VO02-4, spanning the 2011-2026 production run. Confirm your Beetle uses this rear multi-link layout rather than an earlier torsion-beam arrangement before ordering, as the two require different rear geometry.
