XYZ Racing Gravel Rally Coilovers — Seat LEON 5F Φ55 (Rear Multi-Link Suspension) Modified Rear Integrated (Cancellation Kit for Electronic Damping) 2012-2026

Fit a fixed-rate coilover to a 5F that left the factory with adaptive electronic damping and the car’s control unit will keep hunting for a damper signal that no longer exists. This Gravel Rally kit ships with the cancellation harness built in, so the Leon’s rear multi-link geometry answers to the new dampers instead of arguing with software that was never designed for loose surfaces.

That matters because gravel punishes a front-driven MQB-based chassis in ways a made road never will. Corrugations, sudden ruts and mid-corner camber changes load the front axle and the rear multi-link differently through every stage, and a road-biased damper simply can’t keep the wheel on the ground long enough to put power down. The Gravel Rally spec is built around that problem specifically.

What this coilover does for your 2012-2026 Seat LEON 5F

Inverted-tube construction keeps unsprung mass down at the corner where a gravel car needs it least, which helps the multi-link rear track washboard sections rather than skip across them. Long-stroke pistons and correspondingly long springs give the suspension room to work when a rut or a compression event tries to bottom the chassis out at speed – the kind of hit a shorter-travel road coilover would transmit straight into the body. Spring rates on this kit were set by a rally racing team running actual stage conditions, not a road-car test track, so the rate you get is calibrated for the G-forces a gravel corner generates rather than the loads a tarmac apex produces. Combined with the cancellation kit, you get a chassis that responds consistently through a whole stage instead of a damper that’s still trying to talk to a control module it’s been disconnected from.

About the Gravel Rally coilover

XYZ Racing built the Gravel Rally line specifically for rally and rallycross use, where road surface is the most aggressive a competition damper will ever see. The inverted-tube layout was chosen to cope with the full spread of stage surfaces – sandstone, snow, silt – without the damper losing consistency as conditions change underneath it. Stroke length and spring length are both extended beyond road-spec coilovers so the suspension can absorb chassis vibration and the repeated high-speed compressions a bouncy gravel road throws at it, rather than transmitting that energy through to the chassis and the driver. Every spring rate offered in this range has been validated by a rally racing team under actual competition loads, which is a different proposition to a rate chosen on a rolling road. For the Leon 5F specifically, that translates into a damper that can carry the extreme cornering G-force a multi-link rear generates on loose surfaces without losing its composure lap after stage.

Fitment for the Seat LEON 5F (2012-2026)

This kit is built for the Leon 5F chassis code SE23-4-C, covering the 2012 to 2026 model range fitted with the rear multi-link suspension layout and Φ55 strut construction. It’s specified for the "Modified Rr Integrated" rear configuration and includes the cancellation kit required where the car was originally equipped with electronic damping control, so the fixed-rate dampers integrate cleanly rather than fighting residual DCC signals.

This damper is mainly design for Rally Racing or Rally Cross. In all racing events, road condition of Rally Cross is the most aggressive one. Hence, it means that the shock absorber is the most important utensil during the Rally gravel competition. We develop inverted tube design to meet each different road condition as sandstone, snow or silt. Long stroke and long spring which enable to absorb chassis vibration, aggressively attack from high speed bouncy road and bear extremely G-force when turning. All spring rate setting are tested by Rally Racing team.
