XYZ Racing Racing Spec Coilovers — Seat LEON 5F φ50 (Rear Multi-Link Suspension) Modified Rear Integrated (Cancellation Kit for Electronic Damping) 2012-2026

The Leon 5F’s multi-link rear axle – reserved for the higher-spec cars, where entry trims still run a torsion beam – is what makes this platform worth taking seriously on a circuit. Independent rear geometry means camber and toe can be set up properly for a track, instead of fighting a beam axle’s fixed geometry. Racing Spec is XYZ Racing’s top-tier damper, built for time-attack and wheel-to-wheel work rather than a fast road commute.

Cars specced with Volkswagen Group’s adaptive Dynamic Chassis Control need the cancellation kit bundled with this coilover, because the factory electronic dampers and their wiring have no place on a car running fixed-valve Racing Spec units. Once that’s removed, the 5F’s MQB platform is left with a straightforward, mechanically adjustable damper doing the work the ECU used to.

What this coilover does for your 2012-2026 Seat LEON 5F

Removing the DCC solenoids and the compliance-chasing software behind them gets rid of the lag between what the road is doing and what the damper does about it – Racing Spec responds to input, not an algorithm’s guess at your intentions. On a transverse-engined chassis like the 5F, where a lot of weight sits over the front axle, the multi-link rear lets you lean on rear grip properly once ride height and damping are set for the circuit rather than left at a road-going compromise. Camber plates and adjustable spring perches bring corner weighting and static camber into a range that suits semi-slick or slick tyres, not just OE-diameter road rubber. Under trail braking the reduced front dive keeps the contact patch loaded rather than unloading it mid-corner, and body control through quick direction changes stops relying on a stability system to cover for body roll.

About the Racing Spec coilover

Racing Spec is the damper XYZ Racing builds directly off its own circuit racing programme, including involvement at WTCC level, rather than a road kit with firmer valving bolted on afterwards. Settings and internals come from what has held up under repeated hard use on a race car, then packaged for a Leon running track days and time-attack events rather than a full works entry. For cars carrying heavier modification – more power, bigger brakes, aero, the sort of spec that starts to resemble a genuine A-class racing car – XYZ Racing will build a bespoke shock absorber around the rest of the build instead of expecting an off-the-shelf valving curve to cope. That route means supplying details of what else has been changed on the car and which circuit it runs at, so the damper is valved for that specific combination. For most 5F owners the standard Racing Spec kit is the right starting point; the custom route is there for the minority pushing the car beyond what a catalogue damper can absorb.

Fitment for the Seat LEON 5F (2012-2026)

This kit fits the Seat Leon 5F, chassis code SE23-3-C, across the 2012 to 2026 production run, specifically the multi-link rear-suspension cars taking the φ50 damper body. It includes the cancellation kit needed on cars originally fitted with electronic damping control, so the factory DCC hardware isn’t left in the loom with nothing to talk to.
