XYZ Racing Tarmac Rally Coilovers — Seat LEON 5F φ50 (Rear Multi-Link Suspension) Modified Rear Integrated 2012-2026

A closed tarmac stage throws up crests, mid-corner compressions and camber changes with none of the warning a circuit gives you. The multi-link rear version of the Seat LEON 5F – built on VW Group’s MQB platform – already has a chassis capable of holding a line under load, but the standard dampers were never specified for repeated stage-speed hits. XYZ Racing’s Tarmac Rally coilover for the LEON 5F answers that with a 50mm-bore damper body, noticeably larger than a typical road-going unit, giving the internals more oil volume and more surface area to cope with a stage run end to end.

This is the multi-link, modified rear-integrated version of the kit, built specifically around how the 5F’s rear axle geometry changes on this suspension type rather than a generic bolt-in unit. The goal is straightforward: keep the tyre in contact with the road when the surface stops being smooth, and keep the car settled enough to carry speed into the next corner rather than recovering from the last one.

What this coilover does for your 2012-2026 Seat LEON 5F

Fitted to a LEON 5F running the multi-link rear end, the larger 50mm piston bore gives the damper more headroom to absorb a hard hit – a mid-corner dip, a compression on a crest – without the shock spiking through to the body of the car. That matters on a stage where the next direction change can be a few metres later; a chassis that’s still settling from the last impact is a chassis that isn’t putting power down cleanly. The kit is built to keep the tyre loaded through those moments rather than letting it skip, which is where stage-pace traction actually comes from. On the LEON 5F specifically, that means less of the nose-heavy pitching this platform is prone to under hard braking into a hairpin, and a rear axle that stays predictable when the surface underneath it isn’t.

About the Tarmac Rally coilover

The Tarmac Rally line is built for exactly the surface its name describes: sealed-stage tarmac with the bumps, ridges and imperfections that a public road rarely throws up in sequence. The damper is set up to soak up the impact of an uneven surface and to deal with a big hit – a pothole, a broken edge, a compression – without transmitting that shock straight into the chassis. Suppressing that shock at the wheel is what keeps the tyre’s contact patch doing its job, which is where the stability comes from when you’re committed mid-corner. XYZ has carried its own tarmac rally programme experience into how this kit is valved and set up, rather than adapting a road or circuit spec and hoping it holds up over stage distance. The result is a damper aimed squarely at drivers running events on closed tarmac roads, not at daily comfort or outright circuit lap time.

Fitment for the Seat LEON 5F (2012-2026)

This kit is specified for the Seat LEON 5F, chassis code SE23-3, across the 2012-2026 production run, and is built for the multi-link rear-suspension version of the car with the modified rear-integrated kit configuration. If your 5F uses a torsion-beam rear axle rather than multi-link, this is not the correct kit – check your car’s rear suspension type before ordering, as the two use different rear damper mounting and geometry.
