XYZ Racing Tarmac Rally Coilovers — Seat ALTEA 5P φ50 2004-2015

The Seat Altea 5P carries more body height than the Leon and Golf Mk5 it shares its PQ35 platform with, and on a rutted tarmac stage that extra centre of gravity shows up first as pitch and roll through fast direction changes. XYZ Racing’s Tarmac Rally coilover for the Altea 5P is built to keep that MPV body settled when the road surface stops being smooth.

This is a stage-driving spec, not a fast-road compromise. Sealed-stage tarmac rally throws compressions, crests and mid-corner bumps in quick succession, and the damper has to recover between hits rather than pack down and skate. That is the brief this kit is built around.

What this coilover does for your 2004-2015 Seat Altea 5P

Fitted to a 2004-2015 Altea 5P, this coilover controls the body movement that the factory MPV suspension was never set up for at speed. Where a stock setup lets the nose dive and the rear step out over a rough section, the Tarmac Rally kit keeps the contact patch loaded so the front tyres keep finding grip on broken tarmac rather than skipping across it. The damping is calibrated to absorb a hard hit – a pothole edge, a lifted drain cover, a crest mid-corner – without transmitting the full jolt into the chassis, which is what lets the car stay pointed where you put it instead of getting deflected off-line. The result on the Altea 5P specifically is a car that resists the wallow its tall body is prone to under quick left-right transitions, with the stability to carry speed into sections where the standard suspension would have you backing off.

About the Tarmac Rally coilover

XYZ Racing built the Tarmac Rally line specifically to deal with uneven, broken road surfaces rather than a smooth circuit line. The damper is set up to absorb the impact of rough tarmac and soak up sharp jolts from bigger bumps without that shock passing straight through to the body of the car, which is what keeps the tyre loaded and gripping instead of skipping on landing. That control is what delivers the stability rally crews rely on for a clean, predictable line through a stage rather than a car that’s reacting to the road instead of the driver. The damping settings come directly from XYZ’s own experience running Tarmac Rally-spec cars on stage, carried over into a bolt-in kit for the Altea 5P rather than a generic road setting relabelled for competition use.

Fitment for the Seat Altea 5P (2004-2015)

This kit is built for the Seat Altea 5P, chassis code SE01, covering the 2004 to 2015 production run, with a 50mm strut body diameter. Confirm your Altea sits within that chassis code and year range before ordering, as Seat revised the platform underneath the later Altea XL and Freetrack variants.
