XYZ Racing Pro Racing Drift Spec Coilovers — Mitsubishi EVO7-9 4WD 2002-2008

The Evo VII-IX’s AWD platform was never built with drift in mind, but the MT19 chassis has become one of Japan’s favourite tools for it anyway, and the reason is simple: a big turbo four up front, a rear diff that can be forced to work, and enough structure to survive being hung out sideways corner after corner. The Pro Racing Drift Spec coilover is built specifically around that use case, not adapted from a circuit setup after the fact.

Drift asks different questions of a suspension than lapping does. The car needs to break traction predictably at the point you choose, then hold a stable body angle through the transition rather than snapping or wallowing. That is what this kit is tuned to deliver on the Evo 7-9’s AWD chassis.

What this coilover does for your 2002-2008 Mitsubishi EVO7-9 4WD

Lower the ride height correctly within the kit’s bump stroke and the change in the car’s roll behaviour through a drift transition is immediate – less body movement means the rear end responds to throttle and steering input the way you’re asking it to, not a beat later. The 3-way adjustment knobs let you separate low-speed compression from rebound, which matters on the Evo specifically because the AWD system is already transferring load between axles under power; get the damping wrong and you’re fighting the drivetrain as well as the chassis. Dial it in and the car settles into an angle rather than fighting to find one, which is the entire point of a drift-tuned kit on a car this heavy. The small oil-hole passage design in the damper is a deliberate trade-off – it prioritises consistent low-speed control over silence, so don’t mistake a bit of noise over bumps for a fault.

About the Pro Racing Drift Spec coilover

This is a suspension built around one job: keeping the car’s body composed while the tyres are doing something else entirely. XYZ Racing designed the damping circuit specifically to stabilise body movement during high-speed direction changes, so the car holds the angle you’ve committed to rather than see-sawing out of it. Ride height comes down within a bump stroke calculated to keep the kit usable on real track surfaces, not just a smooth pad – a shorter stroke would look aggressive on paper but bottom out the first time the surface gets rough. The 3-knob adjustment layout runs oil through a deliberately small passage; on a rough section that produces a faint noise under compression, which is the circuit design working as intended rather than a wear symptom. It’s built for the track environment specifically, where repeated hard inputs and imperfect surfaces are the norm rather than the exception.

Fitment for the Mitsubishi EVO7-9 4WD (2002-2008)

Built for the MT19-chassis Evo VII, VIII and IX, covering the 2002-2008 production run of the 4WD platform. Confirm your build year falls within this range before ordering, as Mitsubishi made running changes across the VII-IX generations that this kit is specced against.

This suspension is especially designed for Drift racing purpose. With its special design, it helps the racers stabilize the vehicle body while in high speed turning in order to make a perfect angle. It can also enhance drifting performance. After lowering the ride height with proper bump stroke, you will realize how we made the drift controlling to the excellent condition.

Because its 3 adjustment knobs with small oil hole design, when driving through big bumps, the coilover oil will go through small passage which might cause some small noise. This is normal situation. This product is made for circuit tracks and there will be no concern for bumps on the tracks.

Top mounts included with your kit

Every XYZ Racing coilover kit ships with the upper mounts listed below for your exact chassis — no extra parts to source.

Front

  • Hardened rubber top mountHardened rubberRHardened rubber upper — firmer than the factory bush for tighter response while retaining road-friendly noise and vibration isolation.

Rear

  • Aluminium top mountAluminiumAAluminium upper mount — a stiff, lightweight housing that locates the damper precisely and resists flex under load.
