XYZ Racing Pro Racing Drift Spec Coilovers — Mitsubishi EVO1-3 4WD 1992-1996

For competitive drifting in the Evo1-3, the challenge isn’t finding grip – it’s managing an all-wheel-drive chassis that wants to run straight and asking it to hold an angle instead. The transfer case is putting torque down through every contact patch, not just the rear two, which changes how the car needs to be set up compared with a rear-drive car built for the same job.

The XYZ Racing Pro Racing Drift Spec coilover is built for exactly that: a circuit-track setup that keeps the nose-heavy, turbocharged four-cylinder from diving unpredictably into a slide, while giving the rear enough control to keep the car rotating once you’ve provoked it. Where a road coilover on this car is tuned to calm the AWD system’s inherent understeer, this kit does the opposite – loosening the platform enough that transitions stay adjustable, without the body movement getting so loose that the transfer case fights you on corner exit.

What this coilover does for your 1992-1996 Mitsubishi Evo1-3 4WD

Lowering the ride height with the correct bump stroke set through this kit sharpens how the Evo1-3 changes direction, which matters more here than on a rear-drive car because the transfer case and forward-mounted turbo four are already pulling the nose down under load. The three adjustment knobs let you set compression and rebound so you can settle the platform enough to trail-brake into a slide and still have the rear step out predictably rather than snapping. Because the setup is built around circuit-track use rather than road comfort, big bumps and kerb strikes on track don’t unsettle the car the way they would on a stock setup – if you hear a faint noise from oil passing through the small internal oil holes over rough sections, that’s the damper doing its job, not a fault. The result on track is a car that holds a slide angle through a full corner instead of kicking sideways and washing out.

About the Pro Racing Drift Spec coilover

XYZ Racing built the Pro Racing Drift Spec line specifically around drift competition rather than adapting a road or time-attack kit. The core job is stabilising the body through fast, high-speed direction changes so the car settles into a clean, consistent angle instead of wallowing mid-slide. Ride height comes down with a bump stroke calculated for that use, which is what lets a driver hold a controlled drift rather than fighting body roll through the corner. Each damper carries three external adjustment knobs, feeding oil through a deliberately small internal passage – under harsh, repeated bump loading that can produce a faint operating noise, which is expected and not a sign of wear. The whole kit is set up around circuit-track surfaces, so kerbs and bumps that would unsettle a road-biased coilover are accounted for in the tune.

Fitment for the Mitsubishi Evo1-3 4WD (1992-1996)

This kit is specced for the Mitsubishi Evo1-3 4WD, chassis code MT17, covering the 1992 to 1996 production run. It’s built around the AWD drivetrain layout of this generation, so confirm your Evo is a 1992-1996 4WD model before ordering – later Evo generations use a different platform and need a different kit.

What buyers also search for

  • Mitsubishi Evo1-3 4WD drift suspension built for circuit competition, not road comfort
  • Pro Racing Drift Spec coilover damping tuned for all-wheel-drive slide control on the Evo1-3
  • Evo1-3 4WD ride height and bump stroke setup aimed at holding a controlled drift angle
  • Mitsubishi Evo1-3 coilover kit designed to take repeated kerb and bump loading on track

This is a track-specific setup, and the right compression and rebound balance depends on how you drive the Evo1-3 – configure yours below.

This suspension is especially designed for Drift racing purpose. With its special design, it helps the racers stabilize the vehicle body while in high speed turning in order to make a perfect angle. It can also enhance drifting performance. After lowering the ride height with proper bump stroke, you will realize how we made the drift controlling to the excellent condition.

Because its 3 adjustment knobs with small oil hole design, when driving through big bumps, the coilover oil will go through small passage which might cause some small noise. This is normal situation. This product is made for circuit tracks and there will be no concern for bumps on the tracks.

Top mounts included with your kit

Every XYZ Racing coilover kit ships with the upper mounts listed below for your exact chassis — no extra parts to source.

Front

  • Pillow ball + rubber top mountPillow ball + rubberP+Pillow-ball upper with a rubber insert — adds steering precision and camber adjustability while keeping some of the factory mount’s harshness damping.
  • Hardened rubber top mountHardened rubberRHardened rubber upper — firmer than the factory bush for tighter response while retaining road-friendly noise and vibration isolation.

Rear

  • Aluminium top mountAluminiumAAluminium upper mount — a stiff, lightweight housing that locates the damper precisely and resists flex under load.
