XYZ Racing Pro Racing Drift Spec Coilovers — Mercedes-Benz CLS C218 8 CYL 2011-2018

The C218’s V8-biturbo nose and a wheelbase past 2.9 metres mean weight transfer builds slower than it does in a lighter coupe, and that lag is exactly what makes a four-door coupe hard to hold sideways with any precision. XYZ Racing’s Pro Racing Drift Spec coilover is built around that problem: it’s tuned to stabilise the body through high-speed direction changes so the car settles into an angle instead of wallowing into one.

This is a drift-specific platform, not a repurposed track coilover. Lowering the CLS on a proper bump stroke sharpens initial turn-in response and gives the driver a faster, more predictable read on where the rear end is heading – which matters more on a car this heavy than it does on something half the weight.

What this coilover does for your 2011-2018 Mercedes Benz CLS C218 8 CYL

Swap the factory setup for this coilover and the CLS stops fighting you mid-transition. Reduced ride height combined with correctly set bump stroke keeps the body flatter as load shifts from outside-front to outside-rear, so the car holds an angle instead of see-sawing through it. The 3-knob damping adjustment lets you separate compression and rebound behaviour front to rear, which on a nose-heavy V8 CLS means you can stiffen the front to check the initial dive under trail-braking without also killing rear compliance on entry. For a car that was never built with drift geometry in mind, that separation is what turns a heavy four-door coupe into something a driver can place with intent, corner after corner on a circuit layout rather than just a straight line.

About the Pro Racing Drift Spec coilover

XYZ Racing engineered this coilover specifically for competitive drifting, where body control at high yaw angles matters more than outright stiffness. Each unit runs 3 external adjustment knobs feeding oil through a deliberately small-bore passage – a design choice that sharpens damping resolution but means you may hear a faint noise over sharp bumps as oil moves through that restricted path. That’s expected behaviour on this product, not a fault, and it’s a trade XYZ Racing accepts because the unit is built and calibrated for circuit surfaces rather than broken B-roads. With the ride height dropped and bump stroke set correctly, the coilover’s job is to keep the CLS’s body settled through the exact high-speed transitions where drift angle is won or lost.

Fitment for the Mercedes Benz CLS C218 8 CYL (2011-2018)

Built for the C218-generation CLS with the V8 (8-cylinder) engine, chassis code ME20-2, covering the 2011 to 2018 model years. Confirm your CLS matches this chassis code and engine configuration before ordering, as coilover geometry differs across the CLS range’s engine variants.

This suspension is especially designed for Drift racing purpose. With its special design, it helps the racers stabilize the vehicle body while in high speed turning in order to make a perfect angle. It can also enhance drifting performance. After lowering the ride height with proper bump stroke, you will realize how we made the drift controlling to the excellent condition.

Because its 3 adjustment knobs with small oil hole design, when driving through big bumps, the coilover oil will go through small passage which might cause some small noise. This is normal situation. This product is made for circuit tracks and there will be no concern for bumps on the tracks.
