XYZ Racing Drift Spec Coilovers — Mercedes-Benz CLS C218 4/6 CYL 2011-2018

The CLS C218’s factory AIRMATIC air suspension is tuned for cruising comfort on a car that weighs close to 1.8 tonnes on a long wheelbase, not for holding a controlled slip angle through a sustained drift. XYZ Racing’s Drift Spec coilover kit for the 4 and 6-cylinder CLS C218 replaces that air-sprung setup with fixed-rate, height-adjustable coilovers built around one job – making the car’s rear end do exactly what the driver asks of it, corner after corner.

This is a drift-specific spec, not a repurposed track kit. The damping and spring combination is chosen to keep the body settled through the transition into oversteer rather than resisting it, and for a car this size and this nose-heavy in 4/6-cylinder trim, that stability during weight transfer is what separates a controllable angle from a snap.

What this coilover does for your 2011-2018 Mercedes Benz CLS C218 4/6 CYL

Swapping AIRMATIC for coilovers on the CLS C218 removes the air suspension’s self-levelling lag and the load-dependent damping changes that catch drivers out mid-slide. In its place you get a fixed setup that responds the same way on entry, mid-corner and exit. Lowering the ride height with the correct bump stroke, as XYZ Racing specify for this kit, drops the centre of gravity and tightens the CLS’s roll response, so the nose loads up predictably under trail braking and the rear steps out on the driver’s terms rather than the air struts’. For a 4 or 6-cylinder CLS carrying its engine well ahead of the front axle, that predictability under transfer is the difference between holding an angle and correcting one mid-slide.

About the Drift Spec coilover

XYZ Racing built the Drift Spec range around competition and practice drifting rather than adapting a road or circuit coilover for the job. The valving is set up to stabilise the car’s body through high-speed direction changes so the driver can hold a clean, consistent angle instead of fighting body roll mid-slide. Ride height drops with a bump stroke calculated to suit the lowered position, rather than simply winding the collars down and hoping the damper still has usable travel – that combination is what pushes drift control on the CLS to a genuinely usable standard rather than a compromise. The result is a coilover tuned to work with the car’s weight transfer during a slide, not just to stiffen the car against it.

Fitment for the Mercedes Benz CLS C218 4/6 CYL (2011-2018)

This kit is specced for the Mercedes Benz CLS C218 in 4 and 6-cylinder guise, chassis code ME20-1, covering the 2011 to 2018 model years. It is built around this platform’s suspension geometry and mounting points, so confirm your CLS falls within that engine and year range before ordering.

Built to turn the CLS C218’s weight transfer into an asset mid-slide rather than a liability – configure your Drift Spec kit below.

This suspension is designed for Drift race especially. With its special design, it helps the racers stabilize the vehicle body while in high speed turning in order to make a perfect angle. It can also enhance drifting performance. After lowing the ride height with proper bump stroke, you will realize how we made the drift controlling to the excellent condition.
