XYZ Racing Drag Racing Coilovers — Mercedes-Benz CLS C218 4/6 CYL 2011-2018

For 0-400m work in a C218 CLS, the fight isn’t cornering grip – it’s getting a car north of 1.8 tonnes to put power down cleanly off the line without the nose rearing and the tail going light. The XYZ Racing Drag Racing coilover is built specifically around that weight transfer problem rather than lap-time handling.

On a car this heavy, launch behaviour lives or dies on how quickly load gets onto the driven wheels in the first few tenths of a second. This kit lets you shift that front-to-rear weight bias deliberately, so whichever end of the CLS is doing the work – front, rear or both on the 4WD-derived driveline – gets the compression it needs the instant the clutch or torque converter loads up.

What this coilover does for your 2011-2018 Mercedes Benz CLS

Set up for drag use, the kit is tuned to load the drive wheels faster than a standard coilover would, cutting the wheelspin window that costs a C218 its 60-foot time. Because the CLS carries so much mass over the rear axle already, dialling in additional static compression at the driven end reduces the idle time before the tyre bites, rather than fighting it with wheel hop. Ride height and corner-weight adjustment let you set the front low enough to keep aero and geometry sane down the strip while keeping the rear planted through the first gear change. The result on a C218 is a car that stops burning the first 60 feet on wheelspin and starts using it to accelerate.

About the Drag Racing coilover

XYZ Racing built this range for 0-400m competition across FWD, RWD and 4WD platforms, which covers the CLS’s AWD-derivative variants as well as rear-drive versions. The core idea is adjustable front/rear weight distribution: rather than a fixed spring and damper rate front and back, the kit lets you bias load toward whichever axle is doing the transmitting the instant the car launches. That forces the drive tyre into greater compression at the moment it matters, which is what actually shortens the idle time between throttle input and the tyre gripping. It’s a different design brief to a road or track coilover – stability at high speed down a straight matters more here than mid-corner balance, and the adjustment range reflects that. For a car the size and weight of the CLS, that front/rear bias adjustment is the difference between wheelspin and a clean pass.

Fitment for the Mercedes Benz CLS C218 (2011-2018)

This kit is built for the Mercedes Benz CLS C218, 4/6 cylinder variants, covering the 2011 to 2018 production run under chassis code ME20-1. Confirm your build year sits within that span before ordering, since C218 suspension geometry changed enough across the generation that cross-fitting outside this range isn’t recommended.

What buyers also search for

  • Mercedes Benz CLS C218 drag racing suspension setup for 0-400m
  • CLS C218 weight transfer coilovers for launch control off the line
  • Mercedes CLS drag coilover kit for FWD, RWD and 4WD drivetrains
  • C218 chassis strip-ready suspension for reducing wheelspin on launch

Configure the front and rear settings for your C218’s driveline below to get the launch bias right for your car.

The coilovers are specially designed for 0~400 drag racing such as FWD, RWD or 4WD models. The setting allows vehicle to change the front and rear weight according to the transmission wheel in instant driving, and force the transmission tire having greater compression, which can reduce the idle time of wheel and improve the stability of the vehicle under high speed.

Top mounts included with your kit

Every XYZ Racing coilover kit ships with the upper mounts listed below for your exact chassis — no extra parts to source.

Front

  • Pillow ball + rubber top mountPillow ball + rubberP+Pillow-ball upper with a rubber insert — adds steering precision and camber adjustability while keeping some of the factory mount’s harshness damping.

Rear

  • Aluminium top mountAluminiumAAluminium upper mount — a stiff, lightweight housing that locates the damper precisely and resists flex under load.
