XYZ Racing Pro Racing Drift Spec Coilovers — Maserati BITURBO SI φ52 welding (PCD: 4X98) 1986-1991

The Maserati Biturbo’s twin-turbo V6 sends power to the rear axle in bursts rather than a smooth curve, and on a chassis this light and this analogue, that boost-then-break-loose character is exactly what makes the 1986-1991 SI φ52 Welding a natural drift platform. XYZ Racing’s Pro Racing Drift Spec coilover is built around that trait rather than trying to engineer it out.

For the SI φ52 Welding variant on 4×98 PCD, drift work means holding a slide through the exit of a corner at an angle the driver chose, not the chassis. This coilover drops ride height and reworks the damping curve so the rear axle stays predictable once the tail comes round, on a skidpan session or through a linked corner at a track day.

What this coilover does for your 1986-1991 Maserati Biturbo SI Φ52 Welding (pcd: 4×98)

Lower the ride height correctly and the Biturbo’s centre of gravity drops enough that the rear end moves in a more consistent arc once you’ve committed to a slide, instead of snapping wider than intended. The three-way damping adjustment lets you separate compression and rebound behaviour for the rear axle specifically, so you can soften the initial transition into oversteer without leaving the car wallowy once it’s holding an angle. On a chassis from this era, with relatively simple suspension geometry, that kind of fine control over damping response does more for controllability than raw spring rate alone. Expect sharper initial turn-in on entry and a rear axle that resists snapping back under power once you’re committed to the slide.

About the Pro Racing Drift Spec coilover

Pro Racing Drift Spec is XYZ Racing’s coilover built specifically for competition drifting rather than road use or circuit lapping. The valving is tuned to keep the body settled through high-speed direction changes, so the car holds a chosen angle instead of drifting wider or snapping back on its own. Set the ride height and bump stroke correctly and the difference in controllability through a held slide becomes obvious straight away. Each corner uses three adjustment knobs feeding a small internal oil passage, which gives fine control over damping response but also means you may hear a faint noise as oil moves through that passage over sharp bumps – that’s the design working as intended, not a fault. This spec is built with circuit and drift-day surfaces in mind, where repeated hard bumps are part of the job rather than the exception.

Fitment for the Maserati Biturbo SI Φ52 Welding (pcd: 4×98) (1986-1991)

This kit is built to the MS03 chassis code covering the Biturbo SI φ52 Welding variant on 4×98 PCD, spanning the 1986 to 1991 production run. Confirm your car matches this exact welding and PCD specification before ordering, as Biturbo variants differ across the model’s production years.

This suspension is especially designed for Drift racing purpose. With its special design, it helps the racers stabilize the vehicle body while in high speed turning in order to make a perfect angle. It can also enhance drifting performance. After lowering the ride height with proper bump stroke, you will realize how we made the drift controlling to the excellent condition.

Because its 3 adjustment knobs with small oil hole design, when driving through big bumps, the coilover oil will go through small passage which might cause some small noise. This is normal situation. This product is made for circuit tracks and there will be no concern for bumps on the tracks.
