XYZ Racing Tarmac Rally Coilovers — Honda CIVIC TYPE-R FN2 (Modified Rear Integrated) 2007-2011

The FN2 Civic Type R shipped with a rear torsion beam axle rather than the FD2’s independent rear, a decision that left UK-market cars needing extra help to rotate on a loose or damp stage. XYZ Racing’s Tarmac Rally coilover addresses that directly, with a modified rear mount that integrates a true coilover into the torsion-beam layout instead of working around it.

Built for sealed-stage tarmac rally use, this kit is tuned for the FN2’s front-driven, K20A-powered layout: quick weight transfer under trail-braking, stable turn-in over broken surfaces, and traction out of hairpins where torque steer usually punishes the front axle.

What this coilover does for your 2007-2011 Honda Civic Type-R FN2

On a 2007-2011 Civic Type R FN2, the biggest gain is at the rear axle. Because the Tarmac Rally kit integrates directly into the modified rear mount rather than fighting the standard torsion beam geometry, the car settles onto a stage road instead of skating over camber changes and mid-corner bumps. The damper is calibrated to absorb the jolt from broken tarmac and stage-crossing ridges without kicking the body back upright, which keeps the front tyres loaded and turning rather than skipping. That translates into more usable front-end grip under trail-braking into a hairpin, and a rear end that follows the nose through direction changes instead of dragging wide. On transit sections and road-crossing stages, the same damper control stops the FN2’s torsion beam rear from hopping over ridges, so the car stays planted rather than unsettled between corners.

About the Tarmac Rally coilover

XYZ Racing built the Tarmac Rally coilover specifically for sealed-stage work on broken and undulating tarmac, not for a smooth circuit surface. The damper is set up to soak up hard-edged impacts – pot holes, camber changes, stage-crossing ridges – without transmitting that jolt straight into the chassis, which is what causes a car to skip and lose contact patch mid-corner. Suppressing that shock through the body keeps the tyre loaded against the road for longer, and that’s where the traction gain actually comes from, rather than from a stickier compound. The result is a car that holds its line and stays composed enough for the driver to place it precisely, stage after stage, rather than reacting to every ridge in the road. XYZ Racing has developed the valving and spring settings from its own tarmac rally programme, so the calibration reflects what the team has learned running these stages rather than a generic road-going baseline adapted for motorsport.

Fitment for the Honda Civic Type-R FN2 (2007-2011)

This kit fits the Honda Civic Type-R FN2, chassis code HN25-1, covering the 2007 to 2011 model years, and is built with the modified rear integration required to fit a true coilover in place of the standard torsion-beam mount. Confirm your car matches this chassis code before ordering, as the rear mount is specific to this generation of Type R.
