XYZ Racing Gravel Rally Coilovers — BMW 6 SERIES E64 6 CYL 2004-2010

A 2004-2010 6 Series E64 in 6-cylinder form is not a car anyone associates with loose-surface stage work – it is a long-bonneted GT coupe with the N52 straight six sitting well forward of the front axle, and that nose-heavy layout punishes a soft or worn damper the instant the road surface turns rough. XYZ Racing’s Gravel Rally coilover takes that factory-biased front weight and gives it a damper built for exactly the kind of high-speed, broken-surface abuse rally and rally-cross cars see, rather than the smooth-Tarmac compliance the E64 left the factory with.

For an E64 6 CYL being built for historic rally-raid work, gravel-stage testing, or simply a life spent on unsealed roads as often as motorway miles, this is the spec that keeps the chassis composed when the surface stops behaving.

What this coilover does for your 2004-2010 Bmw 6 Series E64 6 CYL

Installed on the 6 Series E64, the long-stroke design gives the front end somewhere to go when a rutted gravel section throws a hit the standard suspension was never asked to absorb, rather than transmitting every impact straight into the chassis. The inverted-tube construction resists the flex that builds up under the E64’s nose-heavy layout when cornering loads spike on loose surfaces, keeping the front axle tracking through the corner instead of pushing wide. Spring rates set for repeated high-G loading mean the car settles again quickly after a compression rather than pattering over the next series of bumps, and the damping holds its character across a full stage rather than fading as oil temperatures climb. On a car this heavy at the front, that consistency under load is the difference between a gravel-capable E64 and one that just looks the part.

About the Gravel Rally coilover

XYZ Racing built the Gravel Rally coilover for the roughest road conditions the brand’s range has to cover – rally and rally-cross stages, where surface abuse is worse than anything a circuit or fast-road car will ever see. The shock body uses an inverted-tube layout so the damper can take hits from sandstone, snow-covered ruts or loose silt without losing its stroke control, and pairs it with a long-travel, long-spring combination specifically so the unit can soak up chassis vibration from washboard and pot-holed surfaces rather than pass it through to the driver. That long stroke also has to cope with the sustained G-force loading a car generates through a fast gravel corner, not just a single sharp hit. XYZ Racing’s own rally team set the spring rates across the range on actual stage conditions, so the numbers reflect what a car needs to stay planted at speed on a surface that is constantly moving underneath it.

Fitment for the Bmw 6 Series E64 6 CYL (2004-2010)

This kit is built for the 6-cylinder Bmw 6 Series E64 (chassis code BM45) across the full 2004-2010 production run. Confirm your car’s engine variant against the 6 CYL designation before ordering, as V8-engined E64s in this period carry different front-end loading and are not covered by this fitment.

Spec sheets only tell you so much about how a set of dampers actually behaves on your E64 – configure yours below to match the Gravel Rally kit to your car.

This damper is mainly design for Rally Racing or Rally Cross. In all racing events, road condition of Rally Cross is the most aggressive one. Hence, it means that the shock absorber is the most important utensil during the Rally gravel competition. We develop inverted tube design to meet each different road condition as sandstone, snow or silt. Long stroke and long spring which enable to absorb chassis vibration, aggressively attack from high speed bouncy road and bear extremely G-force when turning. All spring rate setting are tested by Rally Racing team.

  • Hardened rubber top mountHardened rubberRHardened rubber upper — firmer than the factory bush for tighter response while retaining road-friendly noise and vibration isolation.

Rear

  • Aluminium top mountAluminiumAAluminium upper mount — a stiff, lightweight housing that locates the damper precisely and resists flex under load.
