XYZ Racing Racing Spec Coilovers — BMW 6 SERIES E63 8 CYL 2004-2010

The E63’s kerb weight sits north of 1,800kg, and that mass rides over a long wheelbase with a V8 hung ahead of the front axle – a layout that punishes soft standard dampers the moment you load the front tyres hard into a corner. XYZ Racing’s Racing Spec coilover is built around that problem: a damper set stiff enough to keep this chassis’s mass under control once you stop driving to a comfort brief.

This is the spec built for serious track and time-attack sessions, not a fast-road compromise dressed up as one. On a 6 Series E63 running consecutive laps, the front end needs to stay flat under trail-braking and the rear axle needs to stay planted putting a V8’s torque down out of slow corners, and this kit is set up to do both.

What this coilover does for your 2004-2010 BMW 6 Series E63

Fit this kit to a 2004-2010 6 Series and the biggest change you’ll feel is how much later you can brake into a corner before the nose starts to dive and push wide. The E63’s front-heavy balance means body control under deceleration matters more here than on a lighter coupe, and the Racing Spec’s damping rates are set to hold the chassis flatter through that transition. Turn-in sharpens because there’s less initial compression eating into suspension travel, and mid-corner the rear stays settled enough to get back on the throttle earlier out of second- and third-gear bends. Ride height is also adjustable, letting you drop the centre of gravity on a chassis that was originally tuned as a comfortable long-distance coupe rather than a track tool.

About the Racing Spec coilover

The Racing Spec damper is XYZ Racing’s circuit-only tier, and the internal settings aren’t a desk exercise: they come out of the team’s direct participation in WTCC competition, where damper behaviour under repeated heavy braking and high lateral load gets tested at a level a road car never sees. For cars carrying serious factory or aftermarket upgrades – bigger brakes, wider rims, aero, engine work – XYZ Racing can also build a custom-valved shock absorber to match, based on details of the specific modifications and the circuit the car will be run on. On the E63 this means the damper isn’t a generic stiff-and-forget unit; it’s set up to cope with a heavy GT chassis being pushed well past its factory brief.
