XYZ Racing Gravel Rally Coilovers — BMW 4 SERIES F82 M4 (Modified Rear Integrated) 2014-2020

Rally stages don’t care that the F82 M4’s rear subframe was tuned for tarmac. On loose surfaces the S55’s torque hits a rear axle never designed to manage compression spikes off crests and washboard ruts at speed, and the standard dampers give up long before the stage does. The XYZ Racing Gravel Rally coilover is built for exactly that mismatch – a car engineered for smooth Bavarian autobahns pressed into service where the road surface changes metre to metre.

This is a gravel-stage and rally-cross specific damper, not a repurposed track kit. Where a Circuit Master or Top Sport unit is tuned around consistent grip and predictable loads, the Gravel Rally is built around the opposite problem: never knowing what the next 50 metres of stage look like.

What this coilover does for your 2014-2020 BMW 4 Series F82 M4

Fit this to an F82 M4 built between 2014 and 2020 and the first thing you notice is how much more chassis travel is doing useful work. The long-stroke design gives the rear axle somewhere to put a compression event instead of transmitting it straight into the subframe mounts, which matters on a car whose rear-end geometry was never stress-tested against rally-spec crests. Long, matched springs work with that stroke to keep the tyre loaded through square-edge hits rather than letting it skip. On sand, snow or silt – the three surface types this damper is explicitly built around – that translates into a rear end that stays planted under the S55’s torque delivery instead of stepping out unpredictably. High-G cornering loads, the kind a stage corner generates rather than a circuit apex, are absorbed by the inverted tube construction rather than passed through to the chassis.

About the Gravel Rally coilover

XYZ Racing developed this unit specifically for rally and rallycross use, where road surface is the most punishing variable in motorsport – sandstone one stage, snow or silt the next, often within the same event. The inverted-tube design was chosen deliberately to cope with that surface variability, keeping the damper’s internals better protected from debris ingress than a conventional tube layout. Stroke length and spring length are both extended beyond a road or circuit coilover’s spec, giving the chassis somewhere to absorb vibration and the aggressive hits that come from bouncy high-speed roads, while still bearing the extreme G-forces generated mid-corner. Every spring rate offered in this range has been validated by an active rally racing team rather than set on a bench, so the base setup reflects what’s actually survived a stage rather than a theoretical calculation.

Fitment for the BMW 4 Series (2014-2020)

This kit is built for the F82 M4 chassis code, covering the 2014 to 2020 production run, in the modified rear-integrated configuration. Confirm your car matches this chassis code and integration type before ordering, as rear-end hardware differs across F8x variants.

Built for stages, not showrooms – pick your spring rate and configure yours below.

This damper is mainly design for Rally Racing or Rally Cross. In all racing events, road condition of Rally Cross is the most aggressive one. Hence, it means that the shock absorber is the most important utensil during the Rally gravel competition. We develop inverted tube design to meet each different road condition as sandstone, snow or silt. Long stroke and long spring which enable to absorb chassis vibration, aggressively attack from high speed bouncy road and bear extremely G-force when turning. All spring rate setting are tested by Rally Racing team.

Top mounts included with your kit

Every XYZ Racing coilover kit ships with the upper mounts listed below for your exact chassis — no extra parts to source.

Front

  • Pillow ball + rubber top mountPillow ball + rubberP+Pillow-ball upper with a rubber insert — adds steering precision and camber adjustability while keeping some of the factory mount’s harshness damping.
  • Hardened rubber top mountHardened rubberRHardened rubber upper — firmer than the factory bush for tighter response while retaining road-friendly noise and vibration isolation.

Rear

  • Aluminium top mountAluminiumAAluminium upper mount — a stiff, lightweight housing that locates the damper precisely and resists flex under load.
