XYZ Racing Top Sport Coilovers — BMW 4 SERIES F82 M4 (Modified Rear Integrated) 2014-2020

The F82 M4’s S55 twin-turbo six puts well over 400bhp through a chassis with a wide rear track and a factory reputation for snapping loose on a trailing throttle. XYZ Racing’s Top Sport coilover replaces the factory Adaptive M Suspension geometry with a set-up calibrated for the F82’s mass and power delivery, built to keep that rear axle loaded and predictable when you’re pushing on.

This is a track-day-and-back kit rather than a stripped-out race set-up: stiff enough to control body roll and squat under the S55’s boost, compliant enough that the M4 stays liveable on the drive home. The rear application uses a modified, integrated mount to work with the F82’s multi-link rear axle, so the geometry stays correct without cutting into the factory subframe.

What this coilover does for your 2014-2020 BMW 4 Series F82 M4

Dropping the ride height and firming the damping curve on an F82 does two things immediately: it cuts the nose-dive under braking into a tight corner, and it stops the rear squatting away from you the moment the turbos spool. That second point matters more on this car than most – the S55’s boost comes in hard, and a soft rear end turns that into wheelspin instead of drive. The Top Sport’s damping, increased 30-50% over the OE street tune, keeps the rear tyres loaded through the contact patch rather than letting the shock body absorb the hit, so you get traction where the M4 would otherwise light up. On broken B-road surfaces or a bumpy circuit kerb, that extra control stops the wide rear track from stepping out under load, and a spring rate roughly 2kg/mm firmer than standard keeps the car flatter through direction changes without turning the ride harsh at motorway speed.

About the Top Sport coilover

XYZ Racing built the Top Sport range around a damping increase of 30 to 50% and a spring rate roughly 2kg/mm firmer than a street set-up, calibrated to absorb hard hits – a mid-corner kerb strike, a compression on a fast section of B-road – without the shock body kicking back through the chassis. The valving is carried over from XYZ Racing’s own Top Sport programme rather than softened for road use, which is why the kit reads firmer than a fast-road coilover but stops short of a stripped-out race damper. The stated aim is stability: keeping the tyre’s contact patch loaded through transitions so the car holds its line instead of skating over broken surfaces. For the F82, that translates into a kit suited to drivers doing track days on the M4 and driving it hard the rest of the week, rather than a car that only ever sees a circuit.

Fitment for the BMW 4 Series F82 M4 (2014-2020)

This kit is built for the F82-generation M4, chassis code BM93, across the full 2014-2020 production run. The rear application uses a modified, integrated mount specific to the F82’s multi-link rear axle, so confirm your car matches this chassis code before ordering.
