XYZ Racing Tarmac Rally Coilovers — BMW 3 SERIES G21 (2WD/4WD) 4/6 CYL (Cancellation Kit for Electronic Damping) 2018-2026

The G21 Touring’s extra rear overhang and load-carrying remit change how a 3 Series behaves the moment you point it down a closed tarmac stage, and that’s before you factor in the 2WD/4WD split across the 4- and 6-cylinder range. Stock dampers are tuned for motorway compliance, not compression spikes off a crown apex or a mid-corner ridge thrown up by weather-cut asphalt. XYZ Racing’s Tarmac Rally coilover replaces that setup with a damper built specifically to control a car being driven at the limit on public-road surfaces rather than a billiard-table circuit.

Because this fitment carries the cancellation kit for electronic damping, the factory adaptive dampers and their control module are removed from the equation entirely – the car runs on the fixed mechanical valving XYZ Racing has set from its own rally programme, with no ECU fighting the new hardware or fault codes left behind from a deleted sensor.

What this coilover does for your 2018-2026 BMW 3 Series

On stage, the G21’s mass transfers hard under braking into a corner and just as hard onto the outside rear when you’re carrying a load or a co-driver – this damper is built to absorb that jolt rather than pass it straight into the chassis. Where a big compression event on a crest or pothole would normally kick the body and momentarily unweight the tyre, the valving here is set to suppress that vertical shock and keep the contact patch loaded, which is what actually puts power down out of a corner rather than just looking dramatic. The result on the 4/6-cylinder G21 is a car that settles faster after a hit and holds its line through a sequence of direction changes instead of still correcting from the last one. For the 4WD variants specifically, that composure matters even more, since the diff is relying on consistent vertical load at both ends to split torque effectively.

About the Tarmac Rally coilover

XYZ Racing built the Tarmac Rally line around one job: absorbing the impact of an uneven, sealed-stage surface without letting that impact upset the car’s balance. The damper’s internal settings come directly from XYZ Racing’s own tarmac rally programme rather than being adapted from a circuit product, so the compression and rebound curves are shaped around bumps, crests and camber changes rather than smooth, consistent circuit tarmac. Construction is aimed at soaking up large single-hit impacts – the kind a crowned B-road throws up mid-corner – while still suppressing body shock enough to keep the tyre’s contact patch working and traction intact. The stated goal from XYZ Racing’s own testing is vehicle stability that translates into predictable handling at speed, which is the specific brief a rally-spec damper has to meet that a track-day product doesn’t.

Fitment for the Bmw 3 Series G21 (2018-2026)

This kit is built for the BMW 3 Series G21 Touring, chassis code BM108-C, across the 2018-2026 production run, covering both 2WD and 4WD drivetrains and 4- and 6-cylinder engine variants. It is specified with the cancellation kit for electronic damping, so it supersedes the factory adaptive damper setup rather than working alongside it.
