XYZ Racing Pro Racing Gravel/Snow Coilovers — BMW 3 SERIES E36 6 CYL (Modified Rear Integrated) 1990-1998

The E36’s multi-link Z-axle rear and long-nosed straight-six layout are why so many rally and rallycross builders reach for this chassis in the first place – it settles predictably once you give it the travel that tarmac-biased springs never allow. XYZ Racing’s Pro Racing Gravel/Snow coilover is built around that exact requirement: extended front and rear stroke, aimed squarely at loose-surface stages rather than circuit tarmac.

For an E36 3 Series running the modified rear-integrated mounting setup, this is the coilover for gravel rally, rallycross and snow stages where compressions and ruts arrive faster than a tarmac-tuned damper can cope with. It is not a fast-road or track-day part – it is built for the stage.

What this coilover does for your 1990-1998 Bmw 3 Series E36

Longer suspension travel front and rear means the E36’s straight-six weight can move through a compression or landing without the damper bottoming out, which is what keeps the car settled over rutted gravel or churned snow rather than deflecting off-line. The enlarged internal oil and nitrogen gas volume gives the shock more thermal headroom across a long stage, so damping force stays consistent instead of fading as oil temperature climbs on the fifth or sixth run. The three external adjustment knobs let you retune compression and rebound between stages as surface grip changes, from loose gravel to hard-pack snow. On an E36 six-cylinder, where the extra weight over the front axle already asks a lot of the dampers under compression, that added buffer distance is what keeps the nose tracking rather than pattering through bumps.

About the Pro Racing Gravel/Snow coilover

This is a damper built primarily for rally and rallycross use rather than circuit driving. The front and rear travel is extended beyond XYZ Racing’s road- and track-focused ranges specifically to give the car a bigger buffer distance over rough, unpredictable surfaces, which is what keeps it stable rather than skipping across compressions. Internally it carries a larger reserve of suspension oil and nitrogen gas than a standard road coilover, which helps prevent the oil from overheating and losing damping consistency during sustained, hard use. The three adjustment knobs work through a small-orifice oil-passage design; on big hits some drivers will hear a faint noise as oil moves through that narrower passage, which is a normal characteristic of this construction rather than a fault. Between the added travel and the extra fluid capacity, it is engineered to hold its damping performance over long, punishing stages rather than a single flying lap.

Fitment for the BMW 3 Series E36 (1990-1998)

This kit is built for BM17-coded E36 3 Series cars with the six-cylinder engine, covering the 1990 to 1998 production run, and is specified for the modified rear-integrated mounting arrangement rather than the standard rear setup. Confirm your car uses the rear-integrated modification before ordering, as the mounting hardware differs from the standard E36 rear kit.

This damper is mainly design for Rally Racing or Rally Cross. With longer travel for both front and rear, it increases bigger buffer distance to keep the car stable. The most advantages of this product is to extend the amount of suspension oil and nitrogen gas which can increase the stability of the shocks and prevent the shock oil temperature too high from being exhausted after long-term use.

Because its 3 adjustment knobs with small oil hole design, when driving through big bumps, the coilover oil will go through small passage which might cause some small noise. This is normal situation. This product is made for circuit tracks and there will be no concern for bumps on the tracks.
