XYZ Racing Pro Racing Gravel/Snow Coilovers — BMW 3 SERIES E36 4 CYL (Modified Rear Integrated) 1990-1998

The E36’s multi-link rear end and light 4-cylinder nose have made it a go-to base for rally and rallycross builds for decades, and XYZ Racing’s Pro Racing Gravel/Snow coilover is built to exploit that. Extended front and rear travel keeps the wheels working through ruts, compressions and washouts instead of topping or bottoming out the shock stroke, which is the difference between a car that stays planted over a stage and one that skips sideways off it.

This kit is specified for the 4-cylinder E36 with the modified, integrated rear shock mount this fitment calls for, and it’s built for exactly the kind of surface abuse that gravel and snow stages throw at a car – not smooth circuit tarmac. If you’re building a 3 Series for loose-surface competition, or you just want a chassis that shrugs off a bad road surface, this is the spec.

What this coilover does for your 1990-1998 Bmw 3 Series E36 4 CYL (modified Rr Integrated)

Longer-travel front and rear struts give the E36 far more suspension movement before hitting the bump stops, so ruts and compressions on a gravel stage get absorbed instead of transmitted straight into the chassis. XYZ Racing has increased the internal suspension oil and nitrogen gas volume in this damper, which matters on long stages: more fluid volume means the oil has further to climb before it overheats, so damping stays consistent from the start of a run to the end rather than fading as the oil cooks. On the 4-cylinder E36’s naturally light nose, that consistency translates into predictable front-end response even as the surface changes under you – loose gravel one moment, a hard-packed line the next. The result is a 3 Series that keeps its composure over terrain a standard road-going setup was never built to handle.

About the Pro Racing Gravel/Snow coilover

XYZ Racing designed the Pro Racing Gravel/Snow line specifically for rally and rallycross use rather than adapting a road or circuit damper. Both the front and rear units get additional stroke length, giving the suspension a bigger buffer before it runs out of travel over rough terrain. Inside, the shock carries a larger volume of suspension oil and nitrogen gas than a standard damper, which helps it resist the heat build-up that comes from repeated hard hits over a long stage, keeping the oil – and therefore the damping – stable for longer. Adjustment is handled through 3 external knobs, and because the internal oil passages are small, you may notice a faint noise from the damper when driving over larger bumps; that’s a normal characteristic of this valving, not a fault. It’s a damper built to be driven hard over broken surfaces without the driver needing to think about it.

Fitment for the Bmw 3 Series E36 4 CYL (modified Rr Integrated) (1990-1998)

This kit is engineered for the Bmw 3 Series E36, chassis code BM15, across the 1990 to 1998 4-cylinder range, and specifically for cars running the modified, integrated rear shock mount configuration. Confirm your rear end matches this integration before ordering, as it changes the mounting hardware required front and rear.

This damper is mainly design for Rally Racing or Rally Cross. With longer travel for both front and rear, it increases bigger buffer distance to keep the car stable. The most advantages of this product is to extend the amount of suspension oil and nitrogen gas which can increase the stability of the shocks and prevent the shock oil temperature too high from being exhausted after long-term use.

Because its 3 adjustment knobs with small oil hole design, when driving through big bumps, the coilover oil will go through small passage which might cause some small noise. This is normal situation. This product is made for circuit tracks and there will be no concern for bumps on the tracks.
