XYZ Racing Tarmac Rally Coilovers — BMW 3 SERIES E30 4WD φ52 (Front Welding OE Rear Separated) 1988-1991

The E30 325iX’s viscous-coupling four-wheel-drive system put more mass over the front axle than a standard rear-drive E30 ever carried, and on a closed tarmac stage that shows up as a car that wants to run wide at turn-in before the diffs sort themselves out. XYZ Racing’s Tarmac Rally coilover is built around that specific weight transfer, not around generic road-car comfort.

For the BMW 3 Series E30 4WD in this φ52 front-strut spec, the kit is set up for sealed-stage work: kerbs, crests, and mid-corner surface changes that would otherwise unsettle a car already carrying extra driveline weight forward.

What this coilover does for your 1988-1991 Bmw 3 Series E30 4WD φ52 (Frt Welding OE Rr Separated)

On a 325iX running hard over broken tarmac, the damper has to deal with a hit and be settled again before the next one arrives – that’s the job this kit is tuned for. The valving is set to soak up a sharp edge or a big compression without kicking the body back up in the air, which keeps the tyre loaded and gripping rather than skipping across the surface. That matters more on the 4WD E30 than on the standard car, because a front tyre that’s unloaded mid-corner has to fight the viscous coupling as well as its own slip angle to find traction again. Front-to-rear balance stays where the 4WD system needs it, so the car turns in and gets back on the power without the nose pushing wide or the rear stepping out unpredictably over a mid-corner bump.

About the Tarmac Rally coilover

This is a damper built specifically for tarmac rally use, not a fast-road unit pressed into service on gravel-adjacent stages. The construction is aimed squarely at absorbing the impact of an uneven road surface, taking the jolt out of a big compression event rather than transmitting it into the chassis, which in turn keeps the body from pitching and unsettling the contact patch. That control is what keeps the tyre working and the traction consistent stage after stage, rather than the car skating over the crown of the road. The base valving in this kit reflects XYZ Racing’s own tarmac rally programme, tuned from stage running rather than a bench spec sheet, so the compression and rebound curves are set for the way a car actually behaves when it’s fully loaded and moving fast over real road surfaces.

Fitment for the BMW 3 Series E30 4WD φ52 (Frt Welding OE Rr Separated) (1988-1991)

This kit is built for the E30 4WD (325iX) chassis, φ52 front strut diameter, covering the 1988-1991 build span. The front strut uses a welded housing matching the OE fitting method, while the rear runs a separated spring-and-damper layout – check both ends against your car’s original strut type before ordering, as the 4WD E30’s front end differs from the standard rear-drive 3 Series.
