XYZ Racing Drift Spec Coilovers — BMW 3 SERIES E30 4WD φ52 (Front Welding OE Rear Separated) 1988-1991

The E30 325iX’s four-wheel-drive front end used strut-top mounting that differs from a standard RWD E30, and that’s the geometry XYZ Racing has matched in this Drift Spec kit’s front housings. A lot of 4WD E30 shells end up as drift cars once the transfer case and front differential are pulled, but the factory strut towers don’t change with them – so anything bolted in up front still has to sit on the original AWD mounting points, not a generic RWD unit.

This Drift Spec coilover is built for competitive drifting rather than track lapping or fast-road use. The front housings are welded to the OE 4WD mounting profile while the rear is a separate shock unit, a split construction that reflects how differently the E30’s front and rear ends need to behave once you’re holding a car sideways at speed rather than carrying it through a clipping point.

What this coilover does for your 1988-1991 Bmw 3 Series E30 4WD φ52 (Frt Welding OE Rr Separated)

Drifting loads a chassis very differently from grip driving – the car needs to hold a controlled slide angle through high-speed direction changes rather than resist body roll on a single cornering line. This kit is set up to keep the E30’s body stable while you’re doing exactly that, so the rear end stays predictable as you correct steering angle rather than snapping unexpectedly. Ride height comes down with a bump stroke calculated for this specific chassis, so the geometry that lets you initiate and hold an angle is still there once you’ve dropped the car. The Φ52 strut body gives the front end the section size to take the repeated lateral loading that a drift car’s front axle sees on entry and during transitions, load a stock 30-plus-year-old strut wasn’t specified for.

About the Drift Spec coilover

XYZ Racing built this range specifically around drift competition rather than adapting a track or fast-road kit to the job. The core aim is body control at high speed through a turn – keeping the chassis settled enough that the driver can place the car at a precise angle instead of fighting it. Ride height reduction is paired with a bump stroke figure worked out for this application, because dropping a car without the matching stroke is exactly what makes a drift chassis unpredictable mid-slide. On the E30 4WD platform that means front housings welded to match the factory AWD strut mounting, with the rear built as a separate shock unit so front and rear can be tuned to their very different jobs during a run. The result is a kit built around holding a controlled angle at speed, not just lowering the car.

Fitment for the Bmw 3 Series E30 4WD φ52 (Frt Welding OE Rr Separated) (1988-1991)

This kit fits the BMW 3 Series E30 4WD variant, chassis code BM130, built between 1988 and 1991. The front housings are welded to match the original 4WD strut-top mounting rather than a standard RWD E30’s, and the rear uses a separated shock design – confirm your car is the 4WD (325iX-based) chassis before ordering, as the front mounting points do not match a RWD E30.

This suspension is designed for Drift race especially. With its special design, it helps the racers stabilize the vehicle body while in high speed turning in order to make a perfect angle. It can also enhance drifting performance. After lowing the ride height with proper bump stroke, you will realize how we made the drift controlling to the excellent condition.
