XYZ Racing Pro Racing Drift Spec Coilovers — BMW 3 SERIES E30 4 CYL OE φ51 (Front Welding Modified Rear Integrated) 1982-1992

The E30 3 Series was already a favourite drift chassis before drift had a name in the UK – a short wheelbase, front-engine, rear-wheel-drive layout with a chassis that breaks traction predictably and holds an angle once you ask it to. The Pro Racing Drift Spec coilover is built specifically around that behaviour, not adapted from a track-day spring-and-damper set.

On the 4-cylinder E30 with its OE φ51 front strut – modified here with a welded top mount – and an integrated rear set-up, this kit is aimed squarely at drivers running competitive drifting, not fast-road commuting. Ride height, angle and body control are the whole point.

What this coilover does for your 1982-1992 Bmw 3 Series E30 4 CYL OE φ51 (Frt Welding Modified Rr Integrated)

Drop the ride height correctly and the E30’s body control through a committed high-speed turn changes completely – less body roll transferring load off the outside front tyre mid-drift, and a chassis that holds its line instead of wandering as the angle increases. The 3-way adjustment lets you tune compression and rebound independently front and rear, so you can firm up the platform for a fast entry or soften it slightly for a longer, more controllable slide. Bump stroke is set up so the rear axle stays loaded and predictable as the car transitions, which matters more on an E30 than most modern platforms given how light the rear end already is. The welded front top mount ties the OE φ51 strut housing to the coilover body solidly, removing the flex that shows up as vague steering feel once you start pushing the car sideways at speed.

About the Pro Racing Drift Spec coilover

This is a coilover built specifically for drift, not a general-purpose kit pressed into drift service. The design is aimed at keeping the body stable through high-speed cornering so the car settles into a clean, controllable angle rather than snapping or wandering. Once the ride height is dropped and the bump stroke is set correctly, the difference in how the car holds a drift line is immediately noticeable. Each unit uses 3 external adjustment knobs, and the internal oil circuit runs through deliberately small passages – a design choice that occasionally produces a faint noise over sharp bumps as oil moves through those passages. That’s expected behaviour, not a fault, and it’s part of the trade-off for the damping control this kit is built to deliver. XYZ Racing designed the range for circuit and track use, where surface bumps are minimal and the coilover can work exactly as intended.

Fitment for the Bmw 3 Series E30 4 CYL OE φ51 (Frt Welding Modified Rr Integrated) (1982-1992)

Confirmed for the 4-cylinder E30 3 Series built 1982 to 1992, chassis code BM04, fitted with the OE φ51 front strut. The front top mount is supplied modified (welded) to suit this specific strut diameter, and the rear is an integrated set-up matched to the same chassis. Check your car’s original front strut diameter against φ51 before ordering, as earlier and later E30 variants used different OE strut sizes.

This suspension is especially designed for Drift racing purpose. With its special design, it helps the racers stabilize the vehicle body while in high speed turning in order to make a perfect angle. It can also enhance drifting performance. After lowering the ride height with proper bump stroke, you will realize how we made the drift controlling to the excellent condition.

Because its 3 adjustment knobs with small oil hole design, when driving through big bumps, the coilover oil will go through small passage which might cause some small noise. This is normal situation. This product is made for circuit tracks and there will be no concern for bumps on the tracks.
