The F20 is one of the few hatchbacks BMW has ever sold with a longitudinally mounted engine and rear-wheel drive, and that layout changes what a coilover kit needs to do compared with the front-driven hot hatches it lines up against on a track day. Weight transfer under braking and power comes through the rear axle rather than the nose, and a factory damper that’s several years old struggles to control it consistently.
XYZ Racing’s Circuit Master is built around that difference rather than around comfort. It’s the range aimed at sustained circuit lapping, and it covers both the 4-cylinder cars – 116i, 118i, 120i – and the 6-cylinder 125i, M135i and M140i, with the extra weight the N55 six carries over the front axle accounted for in the valving rather than treated as an afterthought.
What this coilover kit does for your 2010-2026 BMW 1 Series F20
Fit a Circuit Master kit and the F20’s rear end stops being the variable it can be on a tired factory set-up. The 3 adjustment knobs and their combined 9720-way range let you separate compression and rebound enough to control weight transfer into a corner without softening the turn-in a chassis like this already wants to give you under trail braking. On the six-cylinder cars, that range gives you scope to keep the nose settled through direction changes instead of leaning on stiffer springs alone to do the job. Ride height adjusts independently of spring preload, so you can correct the stance changes that come with lowering the car without disturbing the spring rate you’ve settled on for the circuit.
About the Circuit Master coilover
Circuit Master sits in XYZ Racing’s competition line-up alongside their Racing Spec, Drift Spec and Tarmac Rally dampers, and it’s the one built specifically for repeated circuit lapping rather than a single hot lap or a road-going commute. XYZ’s own racing squads have run the design across international circuits, and that programme is the reason the 3-knob damper offers 9720 individual adjustment combinations – enough range to retune the kit as tyres, track temperature or fuel load change across a session. The trade-off of packing that much adjustment into a compact damper is a small-diameter oil passage through each knob; on sharp bumps you may hear a faint noise as oil moves through it. That’s a characteristic of the design rather than a fault, and it’s exactly what these units are built to run through on a circuit surface.
Fitment for the BMW 1 Series F20 (2010-2026)
Covers the BMW 1 Series F20, chassis code BM75-5, across the 2010-2026 production run for 4-cylinder and 6-cylinder engines. This kit excludes M-Technik, xDrive and EDC-equipped cars – confirm your F20 doesn’t have factory adaptive damping or all-wheel drive before ordering, since the geometry and mounting points differ on those variants.
What buyers also search for
- BMW 1 Series F20 coilover upgrade for circuit and track day use
- BMW F20 125i, M135i and M140i suspension for sustained lap sessions
- BMW 1 Series F20 damping adjustment for changing tyre and track conditions

Circuit Master suits drivers who already know the F20 rewards a properly sorted rear end – configure your spec below to match the kit to your engine and how you intend to use it.
Because its 3 adjustment knobs with small oil hole design, when driving through big bumps, the coilover oil will go through small passage which might cause some small noise. This is normal situation. This product is made for circuit tracks and there will be no concern for bumps on the tracks.
Top mounts included with your kit
Every XYZ Racing coilover kit ships with the upper mounts listed below for your exact chassis — no extra parts to source.
Front
Pillow ball + rubberP+Pillow-ball upper with a rubber insert — adds steering precision and camber adjustability while keeping some of the factory mount’s harshness damping.
Hardened rubberRHardened rubber upper — firmer than the factory bush for tighter response while retaining road-friendly noise and vibration isolation.
Rear
OE (factory) mountOERetains the OEM (factory) upper mount — preserves the original ride comfort, noise and vibration behaviour for a stock-like feel.
